Tree butchers ...... Are they insane?

Recommended Posts

The phantom chainsaw maniacs have been at it again!  I call them butchers because, unlike Hospital Surgeons, they don't appear to have done any training to warrant the name of tree surgeons.

The first photo of one of the trees in question is bad enough, but what they did to another tree leaves me speechless. (Pun intended). Who in their right mind would leave one of the sawn off branches hanging in the air like that? They have to be barking mad. I know Health and Safety is not on the list of priorities in the LOS, but that is extremely dangerous. If that fell, it could inflict serious damage to any passerby or vehicle parked there.

Does anyone know of any branch of a Government Department to contact in Ubon to sort this out?

The fire brigade could be an option, I suppose. That would bring some excitement to the neighbourhood amidst all this doom and gloom.

Or maybe, I could make a trunk call direct to Prayut to see if he can send a tank, on the pretext of them needing some target practice. Does anyone have his number? I'm sure steven100 will have it. Perhaps he can PM me with it? Then again, I've just twigged, if I instigate its removal, will I have to fork out for it? I suppose I could apply for some seed funding to cover the costs.

Interestingly, the tree's botanical name is Cassia Fistula or Ratchaphruek, commonly called the Golden Shower tree or the Golden Rain tree, because of its vibrant yellow flowers that hang in clusters, that seem to tumble from the tree like raindrops. The name Ratchaphruek means a royal tree. Each day of the week, in Thailand, has a colour connected to it - the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej was born on a Monday, hence Monday's colour is yellow.

In light of this, you would expect the tree to be afforded some protection from this vandalism. However, the root of the problem is ..... do the tree butchers care about the environment they live in? I guess the answer must be ... No.

Don't worry the will grow back again and they will cut them again,

the problem is they plant trees under electrical wires,so they must

be cut regularly .

It’s easier to move wires than a tree.  It seems to me it is the wires that have a problem, not the tree.

The common sense thing to have done, was not plant trees

under the electric cables,it happens everywhere, even in our

Moo Bahn, common sense ,Thailand...say no more.
