London's statues from 'bygone' imperial past to be reviewed, mayor says

Moves are afoot to force the appropriate authorities to fully restore and re-seat Coulson and Milligan's statues in their original positions, citing their 'listed monuments' status. The chances of legal action succeeding must be pretty high because failure would render all listed buildings/structures in UK 'fair game' so to speak and I can't see HMG wearing that! ????

(Citizen Khan and both councils have been served with the appropriate docs)

I'd say you have no idea what a "listed" building is or why and how it is protected. In fact the stats of Coulson's statue would give good grounds for any listing - if there is any - to be reviewed and modified..

How long will it take before they start with the Chinese wall....

This kind of comment shows how little understanding of history and its preservation some people have. The idea behind the re-assessment of these statues is to get a more REAL interpretation of history not the jingoist schoolboy nonsense that so many on this thread appear to adhere to. They ae in fact good evidence of how this ignorance of historical significance can affect people's thinking and understanding of their own history.

"Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it. Those who do not remember their past are condemned to repeat their mistakes. Those who do not read history are doomed to repeat it. Those who fail to learn from the mistakes of their predecessors are destined to repeat them." - George Santayana

You didn’t make the comment, so why not let the person who did answer.

well, compare the future against up until the Present...

Correct; Fortunately the legal professional behind it does know what he's doing therefore my input wasn't necessary.

Do you mean zero hour contracts in the UK.

Britain's , never shall be slaves, join in the chorus ..

the zero hour  contracts were a direct result of freedom of movement from the eu with an influx of labour taking jobs to the detriment in conditions to the british worker.

They made the comment on an open forum and I’d like them to explain it on the same open forum.

Most of EU doesn't have zero hours -  many outlaw these contracts completely, others heavily restrict them, or don’t see them widely used.

In UK Wetherspoons have 80% employed on zero hours. McDs, Sports Direct, most fast food all love zero contract - as do most of the "bosses" organisations in the UK.........

and they love the cheap labour from the poorer countries of the eu.and they wonder why the british people voted to leave.

As many as 17 million African men, women and children were torn from their homes
