I'm not sure why you think a high voter turnout from Democrats is expected. Biden can't even fill a high school auditorium. Trump fills stadiums. The horrible poll numbers on voter enthusiasm for Biden reflect this important difference. Let's get real: Joe Biden is nothing to get excited over. He can't even complete a few sentences without screwing them up. He literally has no accomplishments to speak of after nearly five decades in government. He's a complete buffoon- though was an effective hack for banksters. Yeah, that should get people really excited about him. LOL

I’m not sure on what basis you believe Democrat voters will not turn out, to vote alongside the very many Republicans who are openly stating they will vote for Biden, besides which the deciding vote will be that of those who are not strongly affiliated to either party, I guess you believe they want four more years of this chaos.

I look forward to a discussion on the health of the candidates when that is the topic of discussion (types with one hand while drinking a glass of water with the other).

Did you not read any of the multiple of online credible sites that confirm this.  Once again.......... What's with your "once again"?  Not senility I hope.  How is saying you don't need a mask a logical fact when he know this was not true?

"Dr. Anthony Fauci, chief medical advisor to the Trump administration’s coronavirus task force, confirmed that public health experts discouraged the public from wearing face masks towards the beginning of the coronavirus outbreak because they were concerned there would not be enough available for health care workers."

"During the early weeks of the pandemic, public health experts “were concerned the public health community, and many people were saying this, were concerned that it was at a time when personal protective equipment, including the N95 masks and the surgical masks, were in very short supply,” Fauci said in an interview with TheStreet."

News out today that a 2nd wave is hitting Beijing, which has just locked down, again!

https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/world/china/china-cancells-over-1200-flights-shuts-schools-over-new-coronavirus-outbreak-in-beijing/articleshow/76417126.cms

Unlike in the US, at least they will be able to control their population to bring it back under control as quickly as possible, but hopes of a travel bubble with China might still be a long way off - bad news for Thailand.

Florida is returning to locking down some of its businesses as well. 23 days with no new cases in Thailand.

Good idea for Florida.

Americans seem to lack the seriousness of purpose and attention span to actually beat this virus.

Also the politicalization of basic things like wearing masks is truly tragic.

I don't think the state or local governments have anything to do with this. Some  business are closing their doors voluntarily.

Where the US stands with the virus in six charts.

https://www.latimes.com/science/story/2020-06-16/six-charts-show-how-americans-have-been-affected-by-covid-19

The novel coronavirus has infected more than 2 million Americans since it arrived on U.S. shores in January, and more than 100,000 of them have died of COVID-19. A new report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention offers the most comprehensive look to date at how Americans have been affected by the virus.

It's pretty clear that the administration and most state governors have decided their strategy is going be to just ride it out and accept whatever levels of infection and death happen until a vaccine is widely available.  Their thinking is that those who die (or possibly have life-long health problems) are a small minority of old or already sick people.  Most young people and those without the dangerous pre-existing conditions are going to accept this strategy too, as illustrated in opening-up photos from around the country.

I wish that was true:

"Under fire from critics who say he is letting the coronavirus outbreak get out of control, Gov. Ron DeSantis is playing down Florida’s sharp increase in new cases in recent weeks, attributing it to more testing and saying he won’t rollback reopening efforts."

That would make sense.  Trump's leadership style is "I'm in charge but not responsible" and Florida Governor DeSantis is a hardcore Trump sycophant so....

Obviously, DeSantis is observing data you probably don't want to see. For example:

Florida mortality rate: 3.7%

New York mortality rate: 7.8%

Florida infection rate: 0.37%

New York infection rate: 2.0%

Florida death count is over 90% less than New York, despite having a 10% higher population.

Obviously, Florida is doing a better job with the virus than New York. And obviously, the governor is weighing the potential number of deaths against the damage to everyone via a tanking economy. No offense, but given who you think is doing a good job, I think I'll go with the governor's plan. Now, if you have some facts and data to present that would change a rational person's mind, let's see it.

OK, but enough about New York. Let's get back to Florida, where the numbers make it obvious they are doing a superior job to New York.

Florida mortality rate: 3.7%

New York mortality rate: 7.8%

Florida infection rate: 0.37%

New York infection rate: 2.0%

Trump has record high support from Republicans:

Biden suffers from a HUGE enthusiasm gap (emphasis added for your convenience):

"Indeed, strong enthusiasm for Biden among his supporters – at just 24% – is the lowest on record for a Democratic presidential candidate in 20 years of ABC/Post polls. More than twice as many of Trump’s supporters are highly enthusiastic about supporting him, 53%."

Subways and buses in NYC open only to essential workers. And it is mandatory that you wear a mask if you use mass transit. Are you familiar with the latest info about masks? About how powerful a tool they are in stopping the spread of Covid. Imagine if President Trump was enthusiastically endorsing their use.

Well, whatever New York did, the results speak volumes. You can't spin your way out of that, no matter what you do.

As any epidemiologist would tell you, New York City is the most densely populated area in all of the United States. So naturally it's rates are higher. But with greater understanding of how the virus is transmitted, New York has drastically reduced the rate of transmission. Florida on the other hand is now experiencing a dramatic rise in rates. What's Florida's excuse? And keep in mind that deaths usually spike about three weeks after symptoms of Covid appear. So Florida is in quite a bout of deaths. Also, all those old white people who voted for Trump last time, aren't so pleased about being offered up for sacrifice for the sake of the economy. The polls show them deserting Trump in droves.
