Severe disruption to traffic was reported after a tanker carrying 30 tons of methanol overturned on Route 304 heading towards Kabinburi yesterday.

Sa Bua police needed to divert traffic around the stricken tanker on alternative routes due to the danger of explosion.

Suwit, 48, had been taking the load from Phrapradaeng to Kabinburi. His journey had begun the previous night.

A six hour operation that concluded at 4pm involved siphoning off the methanol into another tanker before two cranes were used to right the 22 wheel tanker that had overturned.

While this was going on the fire brigade were constantly on standby.

Naew Na said there were luckily no deaths or injuries.

They did not report at all why the tanker had overturned or what happened to the driver.
