Phayao province reeled under floods on Saturday (June 27) morning following incessant rains.

The floods brought mud and water into people’s houses in several villages, causing damage to property.

Most of the damage was in Dong Suwan subdistrict of Dok Khamtai district.

Flooded roads also brought travel to a standstill. However, as the rain stopped and water levels reduced, people hastened to clean up their houses and salvage their belongings from the mud.

Auan Mahayos, a local in Dong Suwan subdistrict, said he realised that the water and mud had flooded his house this morning. He took his nephew to safety to the upper floor of his house, but they did not have time to remove their belongings.

He added that his pet was missing, while other locals said that their livestock and farm animals were lost in the flood as well.

However, the local administration together with the Army have already sent officials to help the flood-affected people.
