UK ready to quit EU on 'Australia terms' if no Brexit deal, Johnson says

It's good to see that Barnier is keeping up with his ridiculous demands. The fact that no country could ever sign up to such a lopsided agreement means a No deal Brexit is looking increasingly likely, thanks Michel . I always though a level of integration similar to that which Australia has with the EU was an excellent model for us Great Britons.

 

It's been over 4 years now but all good things come to those who wait.

 

With all the empty pedestals following the BLM vandalism, maybe a statue of David Frost would be apt.

My point is we cannot pretend the UK is looking for a level playing field. The UK wants the benefits of access to the EU markets without having to comply to EU standards.

If you want in the club you have to adhere to the clubs rules.

What is it that leads people to such petty bitterness that makes them want other countries to do badly, whatever organisation they are part of, so childish.  So if Thailand leaves ASEAN do we expect the Thais to spend their time wishing Malasia, Singapore etc to do badly. 

 

I would like to see all countries do well, particularly with the vast problems they will face post Covid.

In return for largely unimpeded access by British companies to the European single market, the EU requires Britain to continue to accept EU social, environmental or consumer standards. This is to avoid distortions of competition.

 

The UK refused.

It is annoying to see how much concessions the EU has already made.

For a third country full market access without consideration?

It is really no longer clear why special treatment is always given for the UK.

 

End the senseless negotiations.

No free EU market access for the UK. Trade only according to WTO rules.

This is the best medicine for the UK.

An HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) document marked “sensitive”, seen by the Guardian, reveals that firms in Great Britain will be obliged to complete three rounds of customs, security and transit forms on all goods.
The electronic documents will need to be completed whether there is a Brexit trade deal or not and will apply to all suppliers.

An 11-page slide presentation from HMRC, outlining the new system, states: “To achieve customs control, we need to ensure that all goods are presented and declared to customs.”

There's nothing easier than just walking away, Mr Barnier has had his chance, he could not negotiate his way out of a brown paper bag.

There we go with the "distortions of competition" again. It's the EU restrictions which are keeping all of them noncompetitive, be they EU standards, or external trade and tariffs. They won't like it up 'em when we do trade freely with the rest of the world.

How many concessions have the EU already made on this? They barely 'allowed' us leave without a fight which is not quite over yet. The full market access is not without consideration. The consideration is full access to the UK market - you know that lovely export of 372 Billion quids worth of EU exports. That's enough for special treatment.

Happy to end the 'senseless negotiations' right now and go straight to No Deal. However there will be a few EU states who need a spoon full of sugar with their medicine. Sugar in the UK will become cheaper as the EU tariff is lifted.

Basically he just said he had friends and colleagues in Europe. Thats a whopper for a start.

Says he "thinks" we can still get a very good deal and then says getting no deal is good too.

The ONLY thing he really wants is to get passporting for financial services in return for fishing access. 

Thats what is really going on.

To suggest that the UK is a "free loader" is totally harebrained. We are the EUs largest customer, now should the EU wish to lose a customer of such then that is totally up to them.

The EU has never been a club, the clubs that I have been affiliated to in the past have always had their members paying equal subscriptions and not paying their members for being in that club like the EU does to other countries.

the major cause for the UK negotiators failure it's mainly due to not follow the master of the deal advise... they should have brought him in, he did offer "free" advise to Theresa May
