UK ready to quit EU on 'Australia terms' if no Brexit deal, Johnson says

Lol! As if the EU did not think of doing it before. ????

All your commonwealth countries already have or are going to have an FTA agreement with the EU.  There are also FTA agreements with Japan, SK, Mercosur, Mexico, Chile, Mediterranean countries, etc...

The only significant 'original' deals the UK can still conclude are with the USA (good luck with that) and China (but don't send Royal Navy ships to patrol in the South China Sea).

https://trade.ec.europa.eu/tradehelp/free-trade-agreements

Yes, our masters of tough negotiations have already indicated that they will bend over backwards (Figuratively anyway) for a US deal, which is still insignificant compared to what we have already.

Sadly some posters are still desperate to believe that the EU is in trouble without the UK. The mess of Brexit and the obvious economic damage, (Already costing us almost as much as our entire EU contributions from the start) clearly looks to have brought the EU closer together.

"The survey also found support for EU membership had increased across the continent, despite some predictions that Brexit would trigger a wave of opposition to the union in other European countries. All the countries surveyed saw support for EU membership rise:

there was a 12% rise in support for EU membership in Finland and an 11% support for membership in the Czech Republic, and In Britain support for membership has risen by 7% since the previous survey in 2017."

Have your Brexit, but please avoid the fantasy world where

"It's going to hurt them more than it hurts us".

You could go and discuss it with Alice (In wonderland) if that makes you feel better, she would probably tell you to grow up and stop being vindictive.

I'm trying to remember - did the Brexit referendum say ''do you want to leave the EU without any deal'' (or to put it in realistic terms - ''without any idea of where we're going to?'') Because you ar

Why is it that so many of those vehemently against a full proper clean whole independent Brexit are not even UK citizens?

Do you know that all those people who for years wrote and presented utter nonsense about the EU were all paid by right wing Conservative party donors and Brexit supporters?

Including one Boris Johnson who was eventually sacked by the Telegraph for writing one lie too many and making the newspaper look like total muppets?

Actually a lot of them are saying "Good riddance" if you read the full thread.

For some reason they think that the UK is not really all that special, can't imagine why.

You can do what you want.

But just because I (an Australian), will likely be a huge beneficiary of the UKs misfortune, doesn’t mean I’ve concluded that Brexit is the smartest move in the world.

Actually, it’s pretty dumb.

No need. With the happy-handshake program Boris himself will take care with help of Corona and non-brains Brits.

You don't know what we are getting yet, nor does the EU. You have added the word "sweet Brexit" but as you well know, we were only promised Brexit.

This is what we voted for, no mention of sweet brexit or any other configurations the remainers wish to add on.

Your democracy is lets keep voting until we get the right answer. Been done to death here and people had numerous chances to get a government in (through GE's) who wanted to stay in the EU. They lost. Time to to accept the fact like an adult. The UK are leaving the EU with a deal or without.

I know there are old people outside who did not recognise changing times. Politicians like Bojo and Donald had fallen out of time only backed by hard liners or narrow minded. The EU is on the way to become a Unit hopefully a United EU. And the little islanders are standing outside knocking at the door asking for their lost cherries.

The only compromise that the remain camp would accept seems to be to set aside the referendum and general election result and remain in the EU.

It is something of a binary issue after all, "Should the United Kingdom remain a member of the European Union or leave the European Union?" 52% ( a clear majority) said leave. There doesn't seem much scope for compromise there.

Well, this election was built on lies. And now you are still follow the top liar. Funny these little islanders.

Did anyone explain that to them, because they appear to be under the misapprehension that nonparticipants opinions even matter.

weird

arguments and topics and discussions(slogans really) same same now as before the referendum 4 years or so ago

'bout time UK leaves coal and steam age behind and start to look forward, no EU membership,

what now? what are the sensible steps and directions to take?

focus on smth relevant rather than recent history,

near future is more important than last week.

Surely nobody's opinion on TV matters! Just a sounding board for people with nothing better to do, or to relax to after work.

The oven is on the blink apparently.

Well just look at Tvisa history for the standard reaction and venom to those who announce they are 'leaving' a 'group' so no surprise

Barnier is the one mouthing off that the UK will 'suffer most' if he fails to negotiate a deal which appears to be the likely end result. Not great statesmanship from an arrogant failure.

A prime ministers words have no credibilty because he is not saying what you want to hear. His words were spoken before the referendum informing everyone of the outcome of their choice of vote and just because you don't agree with the democratic decision of the British people matters not one jot, that is the outcome. Remember only 34% voted to remain.

Always a sad pathetic sight seeing ex servicemen not adjusting well to the fact you can’t order people around in real life. Comes across loud and clear with a few posters on these brexit threads.

If you want people to act like trained lapdogs you should have stayed in the  military.

If you don’t want to hear people’s opinion on this, you perhaps better stay in your Facebook brexiter ‘safe spaces’ where you can avoid people disagreeing with you.

The UK voted to leave the EU there was nothing in the vote about terms of leaving.  It was just expected that the UK would try to get the best deal that it could without being tied to the European Court or European petty rules and regulations.

Who in their right mind ,

would vote on leaving  the EU  without knowing the terms and conditions involved.

Answer , easy manipulated , brain dead brexitears .  Thx farage ..

The big red busses provided a detailed convincing argument. I mean, what more argument does one need than three word slogans to make national policy?

A majority is a majority, over a million voters is a big majority. But why do remainers feel the need to gripe 4 years after the democratic referendum, it's a done deal. I sure many remainers will have engraved on their gravestones 'Only 37% voted to leave" and not "Only 34% voted to remain" ????????????
