Korat: Senior finance official goes to the police after her Line account is hacked

A senior civil servant with the Nakhon Ratchasima finance department went to Muang District police to report her Line account had been hacked.

Someone had used Wanphen Ampat's name to set up a fictitious site "Wanphen Khlang Korat".

Then appeals for urgent loans were sent to her friends; 150,000 baht ended up in a suspicious account at the Thai Military Bank under the name of "Supitcha".

Police are investigating.

Must be the latest scam. Same thing happened to my wife's friend just under 2 weeks ago. The friend is a senior public servant in a different ministry. Its a close knit group of friends and the scam was quickly stopped before any money changed hands.

Yep, this one is growing in popularity, wasn't hacked but a fake profile set up in wife's name with a few photos from facebook and demands to the family to help pay household bills on a dubious payment website..

15K paid but was stopped in time and refunded..

Aren't they all?
