When I left Thailand I was so relieved I didn't miss a thing.

I think one thing people have to understand, using Florida USA where I live now, is there is everything Thai available here as there is in Thailand. The weather in Florida is much better as well. So if you are married and have a family, what is there really to miss if you are giving your family a better life?

...

Fair play, I always liked Florida too, but still not Thailand though is it. Nowhere is. I miss being among Thais more than anything.

Most countries have Hookers .

Hookers in Brothels ,

Escort Hookers ,

And the most notorious of them all street Hookers .

A Thai friend of mine, a woman who married a German, was visiting Miami South Beach and admired the absence of sex clubs.

Yes couldn't be more true, it's clean in Florida, the water, air, streets, no garbage all over the place, no flooded streets, etc etc etc. You nailed it.

And no Thais to deal with!

I was under the impression Florida property prices were broadly the same now as in 1990.

But agree the USA is the cheapest country in the western world.

If I were American, I'd probably never have left.

And had a life without sex (with women).

But maybe not Florida,

I'm more a redneck survivalist bunker in the woods kinda guy.

yes the prices don't go up much and it is cheaper, until you factor in the barbed wire you need around your property, the window bars, the savage guard dog you need, the multiple guns in every room, just in case and ammo, to protect yourself of course and the armed car you need to buy to stay safe.  It can get expensive living in the wild west.

American women vs Thai women. No contest; LOS wins. I've seen US women on tv and in movies and that's as close as I want to get to them.

I doubt any of us liked LOS for the lack or otherwise of garbage.

Not that it concerns me in the slightest but for my wife, not much of a change.

Thai people, Thai restaurants, Thai Groceries, Thai Temples. No need to miss all that because it is here. I eat Thai food maybe once a month here, maybe less.

I don't think you can ever replace a Thai massage outside of Thailand though!

Eye Candy in Thailand? Come on.  I can tell you one day on a Florida beach, you will see the most beautiful and FIT women you have ever seen. No comparison really. Zero chance so forget it!

The air pollution, the droughts, then the floods, electric going off with no warning, water going off with no warning, traffic. No do not miss any of that.

The biggest thing though is almost non-existent stress since I returned.

Comfort level is 100% higher in a modern house, easy to get around, any kind of food and beverage you want, tons of car choices, boats, motorcycles, you name it. Sports programming, concerts and events, the beach, being able to build things in a full shop in my garage, speaking English, medical care, etc. Just a whole lot easier.

I enjoyed my Thai experience, however, I realized after I got married, there is just so much more to offer here than in Thailand.

Now that being said, I am back working in corporate America and I can afford all those things. It would be a totally different story if I couldn't.

Not about why Florida is better for rich people and families.

Looking would be as close as I'd ever want to get to one of those man eating, self entitled, high maintenance women.

If you ain't seen a beautiful Thai woman you just ain't been looking in the right places.

Nonsense. Crime is down to 1940s levels. NYC murders, for example, are down 80% from the 1992 peak. About one every other day. Let alone a place like Boise, where I live.

To be fair there has been a noticeable decrease in school massacres since this WuFlu thing kicked in.

104 people shot, 15 killed, including 5 children, a few weekends ago in Chicago.  I feel safer in Pattaya than I ever felt in the US.

Oh, I was married to a Chinese from Kuala Lumpur for 15 years. There's no comparison--women from all over East Asia are the most beautiful by far. Chinese, Thai, Japanese, various Malaysian mixtures. They make Caucasian American women look like horse faces. And nowadays about 1/3 of the young ones are well overweight or obese.

I have to agree with you. Here there are so many wonderful to look at girls girls girls around every corner. And you can look at them. In SF Bay Area nope and if you look at them they may yell rape or say something rude to you. I had my fill of American gals in the past. Never ever had any problems getting one, but never want one ever again. Here is just so much better so much fun and I have been here nearing close to 30 years.

Yes, it is. It is safe or I wouldn't live here, having spent 40 years outside the US in Europe, East Asia and the Middle East--so I know how to compare. Your perceptions are just that. People worldwide see the headline news and make simplistic assumptions. And as for the gun deaths, 2/3 are suicides and accidents and vast majority of the rest are in dodgy neighborhoods, drug dealers s. drug dealers, etc.

That's true, but it seems to be endemic to the south side of Chicago, and you're generalizing it to the entire nation. I can tell you that Boise, where I live now, is far safer than the Middle East (where drivers are out to kill you) and certainly Thailand. And the people are the friendliest and most courteous to strangers I've ever encountered anywhere. (That extends to drivers, too.) So where have I lived to compare? How about 15 years in four EU countries, 6 all over East Asia plus many months' worth of visits, and 19 years in the Gulf Middle East.

its the regular killing  of school kids that feeds the perception, plus widely reported tendency of US Cops to shoot first when there is no obvious danger to them or their mates.  You also seem to like shooting your politicians, and while that may be fun, its not normal. These seem to be a particularly US thing in the western world.

I wasn't generalizing Chicago's crime to the entire nation and I doubt few would make that assumption.  I was merely pointing out one weekend's crime in a US city.  There's no doubt that there are areas of the US that are safer than other areas.  Comparing where I was living in the US to living in Pattaya and once a month in Bangkok, I feel safer here.
