Netizens were aghast and called for an investigation when they saw what they thought was a monk laying sticks on the head of another monk.

They believed this was some kind of exorcism and highly irregular.

Police and local officials in Kalasin went to the property of Sang Thong, 64, who said it was all above board.

He uses the sticks to help the locals with their aches and pains. It's an old method steeped in tradition.

He wasn't taking advantage of anyone - he was trying to help them.

He runs a kind of ashram out of town. Asked why he was dressed like a hermit he said that he had been in the monkhood for years and liked that style of dress though he never assumed robes he was not entitled to.

The officials decided he had done nothing wrong.

Even tigers now don't mess with him when he has a club in his hands by the look of it ????

That's a chic little number he's wearing in the second photo ....

Thailand hub of medical practices.

In the second pic, he's probing her pockets for donation money.
