Detective posed as corpse to catch funeral parlour vandals

Last updated at 11:44am on 5th September 2007

A private detective hid inside a body bag to catch the man who waged a three-year campaign of vandalism against a firm of funeral directors.

The bag was put in the back of a hearse, one of a number which had been repeatedly attacked over the years, and for days the detective lay in wait.

His perseverance paid off when he caught Richard Bullen stabbing the wheels of the vehicle.

Lying there like a corpse for several days must have been dead boring.

Sorry I'll leave now

TRUE STORY

A 85 year old man took his wife and sister-in-law to a restaurant....

At a certain stage he asked the chef to take pictures from them with his own camera.

He paid the bill but didn't look at the specification.

At home he discovered on the bill:

"2 pictures taken by the Chef: Euro 1,50"

He got very upset and phoned the restaurant.

The Chef told him "it's just a funny joke since, if you look at the bill more closely you will see that we didn't really added the 1,50" and " for a big smile we 'charge' 2,50" :D

'Big' story in the newspaper with photo and bill... :D

Nice one, LP. Expect in some places they would just add miscellaneous and really charge it.

Disney themed hospital to open in US

AP - Walt Disney, known for theme parks and cartoon characters, is stepping into the decidedly less fun business of health care with a $US10 million ($A11.75 million) donation announced to create the first hospital to bear the Disney name.

"It's all about creating a place where children have the opportunity to not be so overwhelmed in an environment they have never been in before and to bring them the opportunity to play and have joy and to imagine and dream," said Meg Crofton, president of Walt Disney World.

Construction on the Disney-themed seven-story, 200-bed building began in earnest Wednesday. The $US35 million Orlando facility is expected to be complete in 2010. It will revamp and replace the current Florida Children's Hospital on the site

Officials have not yet decided on the actual hospital name, other than it will include the famed brand. Disney "imagineers" are still working to "develop the patient experience," said Lars Houmann, president of the nearby 1,700-bed Florida Hospital, which runs Florida Children's Hospital.

Most patients do not look forward to going to a hospital, he said.

He said if you ask most patients, "Did you laugh? Did anything happen that speeded up the healing process? Most of the time the answer will be, 'No."'

He hopes the Disney hospital will change that.

"The environment, arrival points, lobbies, waiting rooms, will all have experiential design to them. You'll be in a setting that just allows everyone to engage in getting better, including the family," he said.

Boy, 6, 'operated school sex club'

Claims a six-year-old boy operated a "sex club" at a Melbourne primary school have reportedly been investigated by the education department.

One of the up to six Grade children involved was asked to perform a sex act by the alleged ringleader, The Age reported.

The student was also accused of exposing his genitals to his classmates.

The department's investigation found sexual conversations took place between the student and other children at the school, but officials denied a "sex club" existed.

Their investigation also found the student suggested activities of a sexual nature.

The boy in question was counselled, but cannot be charged as the law states a sexual assault by a child under the age of 10 cannot be prosecuted.

Parents Victoria executive officer Gail McHardy told The Age the case raised concerns about the ability of the current legislation to protect young children.

Oh yeah I can see a couple of patients saying "this place is a real mickey mouse operation"

Contining on the theme - most of the staff will be walking around with no pants and saying "hello boys and girls"

If you are going in for an operation just check that the key surgeon isn't named "Dr. Goofy" yuk yuk
