A troupe of crab-eating macaques has emerged from Surat Thani's Khun Talay mangrove forest and forged a bond with kind-hearted locals who are feeding them vegetables and fruits.

Local residents say that although the monkeys are not pets, they show the same friendliness towards humans as dogs and cats.

Human residents are taking advantage of Surat Thani’s rambutan season to serve up a daily banquet for the macaques. And as the coronavirus lockdown eases, the crab-eating monkeys can look forward to feasting on a wider variety of delicious fruits.

Interesting, and for reference just in case of confusion:-

Quote from a-z-animals:-

Despite its name, the crab-eating macaque does not only eat crabs and in fact, at least 50% of the crab-eating macaque's diet is made up from fruits, nuts and seeds. The crab-eating macaque also eats insects, small reptiles, amphibians, fish and crustaceans.

(no mention of vegetables, so they must like their "greens"!

Growing up next to wildlife, we were taught over and over again:  don't feed wild animals. ????    They need to be left alone.

Isn't it also illegal to feed "wild" fish in Thailand? I have seen some places saying same about monkeys
