Thailand Elite Card holders to be granted entry to Thailand as applications from Hong Kong surge

Holders of the Thailand Elite Card will be among the next group of foreigners to be allowed entry into the country, the government has announced.

 

According to CCSA spokesman, Dr Taweesin Visanuyothin, elite card holders will be allowed to enter Thailand as part of the 6th phase of COVID-19 easing, full details of which are expected to be released imminently.

 

Elite Card holders will still be required to undergo the mandatory quarantine period.

 

Meanwhile, changes to the security laws by the Chinese government in Hong Kong has led to growing interest in Hong Kongers seeking elsewhere to live.

 

Many are turning to Thailand for long term stays. 

 

It has been reported that over the last nine months sales of the "Elite Card" (Thailand Privilege Card") to Hong Kongers is up 380%.

 

While this only represents 50 people, more are expected in the third quarter.

 

There are a total of 10,363 members of the Elite Card program, with China, Japan, USA and UK accounting nationalities with the largest number of card holders.

Yes, but as we know they are not for immigrants hence the name 'non-immigrant'. Only a temporary permission of stay to keep everyone on a short leash.

 

Hong Kong Chinese are looking for a permanent relocation to avoid prosecution by the CCP. They are looking to become citizens of a nation state that will not extradite them back without question to the motherland.

 

Thailand ain't it.

By now there must be 'Anutin's law': The bank balance of any foreign applicant is inversely proportional to their chance of contracting Covid-19.

There are no elite card holders with work permits.  You have one or the other, not both.  Elite visas are basically renewable 1 year tourist visas.

It is renewable every 5, 10 and 20 years but each time you re-enter you get 1 year stamp.

Nope

it's not done yet

actualy it's just a project to include the Elite visa holder in the

ones allowed to return in Thailand, you need to wait the phase 6

maybe next month or september,

Anyway they should be under the sames regulations as the others returnees

covid tests, COE, quarantine and so on.

Not true, they are still required to obtain covid free certification, $100,000 covid insurance, travel  authorisation from Thai embassy etc. etc. The only valid reason for obtaining an Elite Card is if you are under 50  years old and will not  workin Thailand.

Elite card for you to stay here legally only.

Had Elite card and want to work then get work permit to work legally, so don't need to get Non-B visa.

basically me thinks you are not totally correct.

 

Elite visas are for 10 years, not one year, and they are not "tourist" visas.

 

Basically they are long term visas for single ppl under 50 years of age who want to live in Thailand. Its not for pensioners but for younger ppl like digital nomads, or ppl living off investments. 

 

Its a bit expensive (a bit much) but worth it for some ppl.

The irony is, I have those types you describe, shouting me down in the past.

With respect I think you might be wrong.

 

Id think TE members still have to report their address every 3 months and i think they also have to go do a yearly extension at Thai immigration.

but im absolutely sure they dont just give you the visa and you have no need to deal with immigration for 10 years.

 

that would be the stuff of pipe-dreams and fantasy island.
