I'm not sure if China buys any rice from Thailand, but if it does that obviously is going to be reduced in future years. Again i say Thailand is up the creek without a paddle. China is very good at making and selling plastic rice

Thailand exports a lot of rice to the US, while the US grown rice goes to Japan as it is mainly sushi grade. Most of the US grown rice is grown in the Sacramento Valley of California. The same fields where rice is grown are used as Duck Blinds during the Duck hunting season. Lived and hunted in the Sacramento region for over 30 years. Actually Arkansas is the biggest producer of rice in the usa. Top export market is Mexico then Japan and Haiti.

When did Burma, Laos and Cambodia disappear then? But yes, while dams are in the north, the centre could do with a store of water. Massive massive project and injection of cash, but. tso310
Cambodian rice has been in the UK for a couple of years now. Always cheaper than Thai and the quality seems comparable.

Rice going down the Tubes same as Rubber & Their Fruit Mango ,Pine apple, Durian ,& soon Other fruit . The problem is that when the price is Good Every farmer wants to make the Big Money and starts Growing More and than the country gets a Over supply & there you go the price Drops and they start Crying and want a government Hand out. Don't get me wrong this isn't only in Thailand. I've seen it in Other countries ass well. First in the Netherlands and in later years in Australia. Sure, growing high value fruits and vegetables would bring higher profits. The problem though, comes from the feudal village farming community. As long as farmers live in a clustered village—they cannot watch over their high value crops 24/7. Bad guys with a pick up truck can pick your harvest one night while you sleep in the village. Nobody steals rice from the paddy. Edited July 29, 2020 by Isaan sailor
