Khon Kaen: Shootout with police near Bangkok Hospital - gold from Bung Kan robbery found

A team of police tailing a suspect in a gold shop robbery in Bung Kan were engaged in a shootout with the suspect in Khon Kaen yesterday. 

 

Local police at the scene on Kanpaphrik Road near the Bangkok hospital found a Honda Wave on its side, two bikes parked, bloodstains on the road and a black bag containing 20 gold necklaces and 66 gold bracelets. 

 

A 9 mm gun and casings were found at the scene of the shootout. 

 

Rangsan, 36, was taken to hospital riddled with bullets including a shot to the head. 

 

A region four police major was grazed in the chest by one bullet. He was taken to Bangkok Hospital. 

 

He was named as Pol Maj Praween SWongpanya.

Police said that one suspect in the robbery at the Yaowarat Gold shop at Tesco Lotus in Bung Kan had already been arrested. 

 

Rangsan fled to Khon Kaen with his wife and rented a place there. Police found him and were going to serve a search warrant when he got wise and fled the scene before ten shots were fired.
