I certainly do not own any piece of jewelry worth remotely that much. I do however pay for good health insurance. These are choices.

What a sad bunch on TV criticizing the victim. Maybe he haven't been here so long that he know the country to well and that robbing is nearly acceptable unless the perpetrator can be seen/ recognized and arrested and by that losing face.

I don’t recall it said that he couldn’t pay his medical bills, or just that it was expensive. Since his income does not qualify for a marriage visa, possibly he has 400,000 baht in the bank and can pay the hospital bill. Or, maybe Sweden issues the income verification letters with no verification of income and he has no money to pay for the hospital

Don't know where your from but in the US health insurance does cover accidents.  Below from Google--

Why should he sell something that makes him happy if he can live on 30k? Selling that gold would not even get him close to one year's good insurance cover for himself and wife. Don't judge this man that you don't know.

Being the type of person who does things he regrets when he is angry, I can really sympathize with this couple.  What a price to pay though!  In my experience, it's better to ruefully let it go.  Best wishes to them.
