Education minister invites students to help improve educational system

In response to the “Bad Student” protest on Wednesday (August 19), Education Minister Nataphol Teepsuwan posted a message on Facebook saying he understood students’ viewpoints and invited them to discuss how the Thai educational system can be improved.

 

He said he wanted to solve their problems correctly without any interference.

 

The minister also said he appreciated the fact that young people are questioning their rights and freedoms, adding that his ministry will give them an opportunity to voice their opinions under democratic principles. He also promised to reduce pressure from teachers and school administration.

 

Natapol said he was ready to listen to their suggestions and what they believe to be the best solutions.

So the problems in the schools is to be corrected by the people who have the least amount of knowledge and life experience...the students.  Sounds like the adults who can fix the problems are more juvenile than the kids!

He also said that students should put the nation before themselves. Which means they should remain living a life of servitude. 

 

This man has zero intention of helping anyone outside his small circle. Let's hope the protesters keep ramping up the pressure because this lot will just keep on lying and doing nothing.

Get head out from place where sun not shine! And go visit schools! Don't tell that forward!!!!! And don't go there whit 50 fellow "boss" who want extra money from trip! Then when you are in school, count first how many teatcher even actualy there who should! Then watch how many student missing! Then watch carefully how schools use they money! Buy nice statue in front of school or actualy use that money to teatch kids!

Why in Singapore the kids are super smart while in thailand lots of students  do not know the earth is round?

School children in Singapore have the support of educated parents.

 

Money and consumption isn’t at the top of the list of life goals. 
 

Students are encouraged to enquire and question the world  around them on a path of discovery to follow their own interests. 

 

Kids there are valued as the future of the country.

 

What is there for the average Thai student to look forward to - debt - to finance meaningless superficial garbage.

How about pupils being able to go to school without being sexually assaulted and worse by the teachers? And the Education Minister, or police doing sod all about it?

I am sure Mr. Teepsuwan's children will enjoy coming back to Thailand on their posh English Public School holidays if this continues to escalate.

Culture. The Thais generally seem to believe that they can keep the easy going, fun 'sanook' attitude they approach most of life with and still succeed in serious endeavours. The rest of the world understands that serious pursuits require being serious. We all want to act like free adolescents, but most of us acknowledge that life's pursuits require that we grow up and get serious.

Lol, that's where the indoctrination begins, cascaded down from above on a daily basis. 

Taught daily to do what you're told and don't ask questions, bow to your superiors.

Act like a robot for the rest of your life.

Unfortunately the schools have taught nothing for decades to keep the masses down, but now they are self taught, communication is easier than ever before using the internet platform.

The government is on a wake-up call from the tech savvy, and the dinosaurs will have no answer.

Actually make the students try to get good marks and stop handing there school results on  a platter. Thai student are not very ambitious to do much at school.They dont have to be or even try because they know they will all pass and then go to university to get a degree which is just useless outside Thailand  Money buys degrees in Thailand not marks.

Teachers in Singapore are the elite 10% of graduates. Highly paid and respected on equal footing with other professionals, lawyers, engineers and qualified accountants.
 

The Thai system sponsors cilvil servants, once employed, to study post graduate qualifications in higher education which increases their pay scale.

 

I’ve taught English to some of these people. Tho their goal is a PHD, by the most expedient route. The Philippines and India offer-off-the shelf doctorates for B30000.00.

This is the role model for young Thai students. Get no advantage from genuine academic work so why bother?

No its the curriculum that is focusing for students on memorizing instead of about understanding matters.

My child was in a upgraded bi-langual English program school for 8 months and even a Such a school its about memorizing instead of understanding matters. I expect a fully thaischhool to be even worse so i took him out and enrolled him in international school Which was okey.

Is it true that a graduate with a government job is then entitled to get a big loan?  And then they are in the system, bowing and smiling and compromising their ethics and future.

In nearly all Asian countries there is a heavy focus on rote memorization. But somehow countries like China and Japan and Korea and Singapore and Taiwan routinely educate some of the smartest people on the planet.
