More than one-third of people are worried that the pro-democracy "Free People" protests would spread hatred in society, according to a NIDA Poll.

The National Institute of Development Administration said that the poll conducted from August 18 to 20 showed that around 34.76 per cent of respondents were quite concerned.

The survey gathered the opinions of 1,312 people from different age groups, careers, and locations.

The protests cited in the poll referred to those held on August 10 at Thammasat University, Rangsit campus, and near the Democracy Monument in Bangkok on August 16.

Of those surveyed, 26.37 said they were very concerned about the protests due to the risk of violence, as well as the threat of Covid-19 spreading among activists and protesters.

The poll showed 34.76 per cent were quite worried about the protests due to the danger of violence between people from different sides.

▪︎14.18 per cent were slightly concerned but believed people had the right to protest, and they believed that officials could tackle any situation.

▪︎24.16 per cent were not concerned, explaining that protests were normal in this country and these student-led protests were peaceful.

▪︎0.53 per cent of those surveyed made no comments.

When asked how Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha should deal with the protests, 45.27 per cent suggested that the PM hold direct discussions with the protesters, while 24.16 per cent demanded that the PM dissolve Parliament.

My guess is that about 90% of the population supports the youth, this time around.

Odds are definitely not in their favor.

Very concerned about this Nationalistic Poll as they seem to be shifting blame on foreigners and of course the numbers make no sense.
Maybe the hatred has already started? Similar thing happened in 2010 when foreign journalists were forced out of the country.

Poll shows 98 per cent believe Thailand better than other countries

If there is the slightest bit of tension and the media begins reporting, this will the end of whatever there is left of the Tourism industry before it even begins, the world reads, understands and realises situations regarding students uprising especially after Hong Kong clearly!

It's called growing pains, every free society today has gone through them plenty of times. So has Thailand, yet they are not free yet

Of course the last bout of unrest turned the tourism in 2014 upside down with the assistance of the Russian economic crash and Ruble drop to assist it, but then it only dropped 6.6% from 2013 as 2014 had only 24.7 million tourists visiting compared to 26.7 million in 2013. That drop in tourist numbers also resulted in 5.8 per cent less revenue for the country.  I don't think the unrest that would occur now, and because of Covids devastation already, would do much to hurt tourism now and for the future as there is none.

This is one of the true main reasons why they keep the borders closed, and not because of Covid!

They don't want foreign (Western) observers in the country for what is coming now.

In a short time this will be violence against protesters, likely a massacre again, and in a medium time scale it is their intention of transforming the political system into a more archaic one.

I would have said most of the Thai populous on the street would be in favour of changes... not worried about conflict.

Here we go with road blocks of sandbag bunkers and the Military boys and there toys on the streets again, ala 2014.  You just got to love Thailand for its concerns regarding the safety of the people.  That's why they bought the subs, and Stryker vehicles.  Got to protect the civilians from themselves.

They could use their new subs in Pattaya when the streets flood again.

So they should give up and let their grandkids enjoy it all or worse?

Not sure if they have the gumption to engage in violence this time around. Remember. There is no moral authority backing them up. And with social media, these parasite cowards would be permanent, worldwide social pariahs, and that could mean difficulty in seeking exile overseas, when they are ready to flee with their staggering fortunes.

"theirs" that came from......
