House debates hormone injections to reduce male sex drive to prevent rape

The injection of a hormone to reduce the sex drive of convicted sex offenders was debated at length in Thailand’s House of Representatives on Wednesday, following the presentation of a report on the prevention of rape and other sexual offences by a House committee.

The other proposal in the report calls for the mandatory collection of DNA from convicted sex offenders, to reduce repeat offending after release from the prison.

Patcharin Sumsiripong, Bangkok MP of the Palang Pracharat party in her capacity as the spokesperson of the House panel, told the House meeting that, even though a rape conviction can carry the death sentence, it appears that it does not help to reduce incidents of rape in Thailand.

While in theory this may work it would certainly open a whole new bag of worms, as noted above Human Rights people would be jumping all over it ..........!!!

I reply as a retired professor of sexual psychology and psychotherapist.  Rape is not primarily sexually motivated but is driven by wanting power over women and/or resentment and hostility towards women.  I have done therapy with sexual offenders, who have been "chemically castrated" and unable to get erect but have further offended and abused with fingers or objects.  It has been suggested by some investigations of rapists following "castration" that it may increase the risk of other violence to women or even murder.

PC BS.

Most rapes reported are 'date rapes', it's not about power at all, it's about wanting sex with your date.

You might be right about guys grabbing random women they don't know, but that's a very small part of reported offences.

from the article:

"Kao Klai party-list MP Karom Ponpornklang questioned whether the hormone would permanently affect the subject’s reproductive system, and whether this method amounts to a violation of human rights."

A perp who makes the conscious choice to terrorize, dehumanize and torture a human being has through his actions given up his humanity, and according him the human rights he himself denied his victim makes this a mockery of the victim.

How do you know what the motivation for having sex with their date is for all those “dates rapes” that you claim to know?

You’re mixing up circumstances with motivation. Just because someone rapes a date doesn’t mean his motivation cannot be what the OP described as “wanting power over women and/or resentment and hostility towards women”. Perhaps that’s why those people go on a date in the first place; to have an opportunity to exercise power or hostility?

Isn't rape an act of aggression and hostility rather than lust?

I may be wrong - some are called rapes because the victims after voluntarily took off all their clothes later said they didn't want sex, later made a police report of rape.

From my personal experience many years ago my lady friend was with me in the hotel we were completely naked enjoying the foreplay and when I try to penetrate she said no, she didn't want sex. So she cried after she was forced by me to have sex.

I then told her if you go home now and your mum asked you why you were crying and she wanted to make a police report then I would be put in prison for a long long time.

I was lucky because she called her mum and told her she would be sleeping in her sister house that night and wouldn't be going home.

I learned my lesson and never repeat such stupid act because don't forget the court judge has not sympathy whatsoever for you. Your whole life would be ruined completely.

She was forced by you to have sex. Sounds like rape to me.

Interesting thread!  If someone does it once incarceration and therapy should be the punishment.  If Someone does it twice let him swing from the gallows.  Why?  Because that guy doesn't give a toss about incarceration or therapy if he is caught and will continue doing it.

I doubt testosterone is the reason for rapes. But feminists would certainly rejoice if males are chemically altered to a subservient state.

Feminists also say rape is about power, not sex. So, which is it?

Why are there so many (repeat) rape cases in Thailand?

Culture is a big cause of it.

Was there not a political person who said not many years ago women who were wearing bikinis

were asking for it?

The many soaps where girls are raped and in the end the couple gets married and live happily ever after?

Maybe mothers should not raise boys as little gods but teach them to respect women.

A lot of boys are allowed anything they want and never hear the word 'no'.

I was totally blown away when i first came to Thailand and saw  mothers following their little gods around with a spoon full of rice, please eat krap?

But guess what?Mai pen rai.

And a lot of date rapes are BS lies made up by women when the guy doesn't call them again or spurned her advances. Post-sexual regret often becomes "he raped me".

At least some are acknowledging that rape is an issue here.

You just admitted raping someone and successfully weaselling your way out of her reporting it.

Yes, but her action said she wanted sex, that is: taking off all her clothings including the knickers.

Really, cock teasers should be punished by the law.

This is up there for the most vulgar post on TV. And that's up against some pretty stiff competition.
