My girlfriend has developed a new allergy to food, probably wheat, and we want to talk to an allergist as the reaction is enough to be worrying.

Can anyone recommend a good doctor?

I did find a thread from 2019 asking a similar question that recommended a very good doctor but with very vague details:

The doctor has moved next door to Ruamchok Plaza. He's considered one of the top allergists in the country. You have to look around for his clinic as he has moved around to 3 different locations in the plaza over the last year or so.

Does anyone have a name for this doctor, his current location, a phone number ... anything?

Thank you for any help!

I did find an allergy clinic doing a google search, "Phoom Allergy Clinic" with Dr. Paradorn Salakwiset, MD.  Does anyone have experience with this clinic/doctor?

That's the doctor/clinic. Very well respected. But it appears that he has moved again for the 3rd or 4th time. I don't know where.

I sympathize. And if you track down a food allergy specialist do post details please.

Many months after chemo, I suffered with what I can best describe as classic IBS symptoms. My oncologist suggested gfdf diet- gluten free, dairy free-which fixed me 90-95%. And if I regress I know the cause.

For example I can happily drink Beer Lao (rice beer) but not 'normal' beers. At a party last week no Beer Lao but San Miguel Light which is supposed to be gluten-light too. I paid for that over the next 36 hours. So back to Beer lao only- or cider.  Similarly dairy. yesterday I ate the top not base of a very nice yoghurt cheesecake. Suffered after. The doc did warn me that I need to be strict with the gfdf diet and she is right. But its well worth it. Tough after eating what I like where i like in many countries but not stickimg to the diet is tougher!!

Until you find the specialist I advocate trialling gfdf for at laest 7 days to get the stuff out of her system and see if she improves.

It took me a lot of trial and error but I now have the recipe for good gluten free bread.

Good luck

We visited the Phoom Allergy Clinic today.   The location on google maps (as of 14 September 2020) is correct.

I highly recommend Dr. Paradorn Salakwiset

I am by nature distrustful of doctors (a long history behind that).  We spent about two hours talking to the doctor about all the symptoms, learning about allergic reactions, getting tested, discussing medication, and generally getting every possible question answered.  I felt this doctor is highly knowledgeable, determined to help his patients live a better quality of life, and very respectful.

We both like this doctor and would recommend him for any allergy problems you have!

Thank you elektrified for verifying this is the recommended allergist to visit!

Thanks for the feedback-and location confirmation. Will the test results take a while before he confirms what allergies- gluten, dairy or whatever? And was cost reasonable?!

Skin scratch test takes 20 minutes.  Blood test results (for food allergies) take 1 - 4 days depending on how busy the lab is.  I don't want to share full details ..... but she has some mild to moderate allergies to environmental stuff and we are still waiting on the blood test for food allergies.

The doctor did say though that careful testing is the most conclusive method for food allergies.  But have someone close by with medication in case of a severe reaction.  He also mentioned that even with what seems to be an allergy to a specific food, it could still be allergens on the plan (pesticides, preservatives used in processing, etc.).
