Coronavirus: Thailand added to England's 'quarantine-free' list

Coronavirus: Singapore and Thailand added to England's 'quarantine-free' list

People arriving from Singapore and Thailand in England and Scotland will not need to quarantine from Saturday morning, the government has said.

 

They have been added to the list of "travel corridor" countries. But travellers coming from Slovenia and Guadeloupe will have to self-isolate for two weeks.

 

Both have also been added to Wales' quarantine list, while arrivals there from Gibraltar and Thailand will not need to self-isolate.

This would only apply if you got a direct flight, or a layover in a travel corridor country (unlikely) 

 

Regardless, Perfectly reasonable. 
 

Basically the U.K. (and the USA) are open, all you may or may not need to do is self isolate and report where you are. Home, Hotel, etc.

My flights to the UK go via Dubai. Not a problem for xfer passengers.

 

No need to self isolate, that's what's being removed.

I just read on the U.K. gov website that if you transfer through a non corridor country then you still need to isolate.

How would immigration in the UK know that I'd been to Dubai? On arrival I present my passport to a reader and walk through the gate. No questions asked and my passport doesn't show my entry into Dubai. Technically, transfer passengers don't enter the country.

Do whatever you want bud, I couldn’t care less, but the wording is perfectly clear and you’ll need to fill out a declaration on arrival as well, and filling it out falsely makes you liable for a 1000 pound fine (also in the link)

Never filled out a declaration on arrival. I am a UK citizen with a UK passport, which, I presume, you are not.

Better check your facts you have to send questionnaire by email before departure country of origin declaring your full itinerary

Transit stops

A transit stop is a stop where passengers can get on or off. It can apply to coaches, ferries, trains or flights. Your ticket should show if a stop is a transit stop.

If your journey involves a transit stop in a country, territory or region not on the travel corridor list, you will need to self-isolate when you arrive in England if:

• new passengers get on
• you or other passengers get off the transport you are on and mix with other people, then get on again

You don’t need to self-isolate beyond normal timescales if, during your transit stop in a non-exempt country, territory or region:

• no new passengers get on
• no-one on-board gets off and mixes with people outside
• passengers get off but do not get back on

American, but I can read and have been following along with covid travel stuff for months now because my employment requires constant travel.

Crazy because common sense would (should) dictate that a person going home is likely gonna be around family, and should self isolate after high risk exposure regardless of whether or not the law mandates it.

Currently in the UK (far more so in the US), the average person is far more at risk from their next door neighbour than from someone who has traveled from Thailand and transited through Dubai airport.

I think you're confused...

They got rid of landing cards.

 

But this new Covid questionnaire is not a landing card. You can fill it in online, but you have to give your flight details and where you'll be staying for the two week self-isolation (if your journey details show you need to self-isolate).

Since hardly anybody in England and Wales is paying attention to the quarantine rules, what does it matter which country is on the list and which isn't? New cases are rising sharply, and now deaths have started creeping upward again, so much for Boris's "voluntary" quarantine.

That´s wrong! Even if you do not have a stamp in your passport, you will still have a digital travel trace in your passport, as it´s scanned at every arrival. So, you can be sure they know where you have been as well as that you will get 14 days of beautiful quarantine if the country is not on the list. Problem solved! ????
