I was looking at buying a Deco for my wife but looking at the savings it seems her Yamaha Filano from 9 years ago is way cheaper to run.
I noticed a post saying after 6275 km that the battery needed replacing (28000 baht)

Compared to the Yamaha thats only about 4000 baht in fuel

She has managed to clock up 91k in 9 years although i use it quite a bit to nip around
Total spent around 56k in fuel in those 91k and it does use a bit of oil now but still think i might hold off on changing to a EV bike for now.

I expect many would not need a battery replaced with such low milage and wonder if other owners have got high milage like 80-100k out of one as probably will do around 10k a year on one.

I have 7200 kms on mine in 4 yrs and battery @ 95%, and not LFP chemistry.

If no savings by the time cost of new battery matched cost of petrol I'd be quite happy, as enjoy riding the DECO.  My Wave sat in carport rarely used, so sold it.  Use the DECO weekly.

  • For around town electric is a no-brainer. If it's Chinese-made, however, then the question of reliability raises its ugly head. With next to no consumer protection here I would expect the warranty to

  • So far I really like it.   I use it for small trips in NW Bangkok, so just 1 steep bridge, and a mix of big and small roads, lots of turns and stop-go, never faster than 70 km/h. I get

Is your Deco battery different than the previous poster?

I was looking at buying one next month but it looks like you would need to do around 45-50k to make it to the point of matching fuel costs.(Thats with free solar charging)

As we are having solar panels fitted it iit is something my wife is interested in buying mainly for the savings but i am not finding any info on anyone with high milage to get to the stage of matching fuel costs.

I think his was NMC ?  chemistry also, since older, as DECO upgraded to LFP, about 2 yrs ago.   Probably same batteries, mine is just larger, 50Ah vs 30Ah ?.  Super Ace being 2000w motor vs SUSU's 3000w motor.

My battery is built in, though probably user friendly to replace, if handy.   Super Ace maybe removable.  Newer 2000w models have 2 removable batteries for longer range.

Since mines older, and if I lived long enough to kill the battery, (unlikely), then I'd probably just buy another newer model instead of replacing battery, though at that age, probably wouldn't bother, since near 71 now.

Wife loves the DECO also, as also didn't bother with the Wave when we had it.  Almost fully automatic (3 gear push button), nice torque & smooth ride.

I really only drove the Wave to top up fuel & put air in the tires, the last few years owning.  Just didn't enjoy riding it any more.  Used a lot when living at Udon Thani, but rare the 3+ years while having a PKK.

Wife thought me a bit goofy, buying the DECO after selling the Wave, and I questioned my sanity also, but really glad I did.  Made riding  MC fun again, though my back is not up to long drives any more, and just putter around town on it with the dog, weather permitting.  Came in quite handy when the car was in the body shop for about 5 weeks.

I actually went to the warehouse at Nakhon Pathom to test drive before buying, and took all of a cruise around the parking lot to realize I wanted it.

My Deco Super Ace is now 5 years old, at 6275 km.

I'm still happy with it, no drop in power and the only mechanical issue is a minute leak in the break fluid box. It needs a 20 thb top up every 6 months.

But range is down to 35 km from 50. When the meter reads 73 V you have 7 km left, not 21.

I charged it for 15 mins at the temple, so I could make it home.

I don't need more range right now, but will keep an eye out for a battery.

Deco dealer quotes 28000 for a new battery, but compare that to 43,640 for a new bike I'm not tempted.
Sadly they wont take the old one as a trade in, instead recommend to sell on Deco club thailand page.

One month later and the bike died 1,5 km after leaving the house with the battery at 74,5 V, that means range is down to 20 km, from 35 a month ago, so I fear that in a month or two it wont make it out of the driveway.

Deco Super Ace is a 2000 W bike. It has a Lithium Manganese type battery, 72V 30Ah. Its fixed in the bike.

Any advice on replacement or refurbishment of it? Can I change to LFP ?

Bought a new battery from Fastfactor.

Its LFP, 80V, 27 Ah.

It cost 19500, and they modified the bike so it can easily be taken out. I still live in a house, but an apartment is possible in the future.

It comes with a new meter that goes from 100 to 0%.

https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100057276406792

It has a new charger, it takes 5 hours to charge.

There is an app that lets you see the voltage and stuff for each cell in the battery. You can also see the total Amp drawn, at max throttle its 70 A, more than the 64A circuit breaker in the bike, so if you plan to drive at max power for long stretches you should replace the circuit breaker also.

First time it died on me after 55 km, and the meter said 18%. I was a bit grumpy after 2 km push bike, but they did come pick up the battery and adjusted the scale so now 0% means empty.
Over the years i imagine it will climb up.

But that aside the bike is as good as new again.

I live in a condo with no place to charge. Do any of the electric scooter brands/models have easily removable batteries you could take to your room to charge?

I think all the smaller 1 kW Deco bikes have removeable battery, but they can only go 45 km/h.

Maybe the new double ace also, not sure.

Think you should actually read the link you posted.

Top spec'd model (3000w / I own), new upgraded battery, a bit more range than mine ...

@ftpjtm Most DECO MCs have removable batteries.

I watched the YouTube video and browsed the website but very sketchy info on removing the battery. It looks like it's relatively easy to remove to replace it once every few years, but can it conveniently be removed on a daily/weekly basis to charge in a condo? Is removing it similar to removing an ICE auto battery (not particularly convenient for the wife to do) or does it snap out and in like a camera battery? Is there a charger that works off of the motorcycle, is the outlet pictured in the video and brochure integrated onto the battery so if the battery is brought into a condo the charger can still be used?

Mine is not removeable, I don't think, never tried, as no easy access to it. Watched a couple vids, and older vid, one model, not so easy, and another model, reviewed same day, seems to pop right out.

This vid, more current, they seem to pop right out quite easy. Stop in at one of the dealers and simply ask, take a peek, or even a test drive.

Personally I'd spend the extra money and get 2000w model, and even one with 2 batteries. Just for convenience. Kph rating is accurate on mine, range, not so, although their optimum conditions are a bit unrealistic, unless just knocking around town, slowly. Expect 75% of range rating, less if 2 max out weight, I thing 125kg, which wife and myself are just under (<45 + <80).

That would be great if they could be plugged into an in room charger

I believe mine is a separate charging unit, and not just an adapter for built in charger. It (rectangle box thingy) has an internal fan, to keep it cool, and doubt if just an adapter it would have that. The cable for the car doesn't have that, as the charging unit, is in the car.
