Police and rescue services in the Bua Khao sub-district of Kalasin in Thailand's north east were called after an explosion in a storeroom behind a grocer's.

Dead at the scene was 47 year old Ret.

Injured were his younger brother Pornnarai and a neighbor called Jack, 25.

They had all been eating together in the storeroom when Ret - a man with learning difficulties - started fiddling about with some old things kept in the storeroom.

There were TVs and old electrical appliances and crucially old gas canisters.

Ret was smoking and it is thought that a leak from one of the canisters caused it to explode.

Ret was killed after being propelled at great force against a wall.

The others in the house escaped death including an uninjured woman who was serving in the shop.

This happened on Tuesday night with the media picturing the aftermath yesterday.

Considering the number of gas canisters used daily, and the dodgy connections many have I'm surprised this isn't a daily occurrence.

For reference:- Phnom Penh July 2020:-

The aftermath of the gas explosion which killed four and injured five in Phnom Penh’s Daun Penh district on Saturday. Heng Chivoan

Unbelievably, the fire was started by a worker welding a leaking gas bottle!!!
