No drought this year in Buri Ram

Heavy rains have raised the level of Buri Ram’s two main reservoirs, saving farmers in the province from drought this year.

On Thursday, the Huai Jora Khe Mak and Huai Talad reservoirs had risen to 10 million cubic metres, compared to earlier images showing the reservoirs as almost empty.

It is believed that this year’s drought crisis has been solved as there is enough water for consumption and farming as the rains are expected to continue.

However, the water levels in three of 16 reservoirs in the province have now exceeded their capacity and provincial agencies are now monitoring the situation to prevent floods.

But the year is almost over  and I'll bet come Feb/April next year there will be calls to conserve water and not plant crops.

Yes solved all by itself  no need to do anything at all now

All that water came much too late for the farmers. Same, same here in neighboring Surin province. Many fields have no rice left. Same disaster as last year.

Why dont they dig more reservoirs

and solve the drought/flooding problem

instead of wasting money on more infrastructure projects ?

Talk about living life on a knife edge, obviously there is a serious problem with the water management system already in place, the drought problem has not been solved, it has been elevated due to late heavy rainfall .......!!

At least the taps might work again ..... for a while. But nearly all gone by next years rice planting time.
