rooster59
Ministers speak at seminar on “Thai political crisis” Praphorn Praphornkul BANGKOK (NNT) - The Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Digital Economy and Society, and Prime Minister’s Office Minister have taken part in a seminar on the topic “Thai Political Crisis: What is the Way Out”. Prime Minister’s Office Minister Anucha Nakasai addressed the seminar by saying that differing opinions in Thai society have led to the present situation in the political sphere and expressed his opinion that as a democratic nation, all citizens in Thailand have the right to contribute their views to the larger national conversation and that decisions should not be based on the views of any individual group. He asked that all sides seek common ground so that they may utilize the country’s democracy to move it forward. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce Jurin Laksanawisit acknowledged that Thailand is facing issues, but declined to characterize the situation as a crisis. He said that the nation’s problems are three-fold, the COVID-19 situation, economic turmoil and political turmoil, pointing out that all three issues are interrelated and inseparable from one another. He indicated the Ministry of Commerce is coping with economic matters by working with the private sector and adapting exports to the New Normal circumstances, as well as moving offline commerce online by creating hybrid businesses so as to boost export figures. Minister of Digital Economy and Society, Puttipong Punnakanta remarked today that some online groups are using Thailand’s economic doldrums to fuel their political agenda but revealed that statistics have shown that 70-80 percent of the members of these groups are not Thai nationals and do not reside in the Kingdom, many being fake accounts. His office is taking action against these groups by filing suits against certain platforms including Facebook, Twitter and almost 2,000 other URLs. -- © Copyright NNT 2020-10-10 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow Thaivisa on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates

Popular Post KhunKenAP
To solve all of the political problem, arrest the PM, his henchmen and all those involved with the illegal 2014 military coup, then retake the photos in prison uniforms. I would be happy at that point to sign up for a prison tourist tour. 5 2

I would think a certain resignation by an very unpopular leader (unpopular amongst the Thai populace, not the elite) would be a good start. 4 1

Very relieving to hear from him that they did not belong to the Thai army, as Twitter claimed! So, they must be owned by Chinese wumao's, I guess? 2
Popular Post Misterwhisper
LIE #1: "...his opinion that as a democratic nation..." -- In which "democratic nation" are people who express opinions that dissent from government rhetoric branded as "nation haters", invited for "attitude adjustment" or even persecuted on flimsy charges? LIE #2: "...all citizens in Thailand have the right to contribute their views to the larger national conversation..." -- But risk being arrested and persecuted if their "views" are different from those of the ruling elite. LIE #3: "...that decisions should not be based on the views of any individual group." -- So why ARE decisions usually based solely on what a certain individual group (i.e. the power elite) want? LIE #4: "He asked that all sides seek common ground..." -- We have repeatedly seen that the only "common ground" that counts anything in this country is the ground staked out by self-serving politicians and power-hungry army generals. LIE #5: "...utilize the country’s democracy to move it forward." -- Since real democracy in Thailand does not currently exist, the country cannot move forward. LIE #6: "...statistics have shown that 70-80 percent of the members of these groups are not Thai nationals and do not reside in the Kingdom." -- The fact that the vast, vast majority of comments on these websites are actually posted in the Thai language would suggest that it's exactly the other way round, namely that 70 - 80 % of the members ARE Thai nationals. Many of them indeed do reside abroad. If they lived in Thailand, they could well be arrested for expressing their views. Yet others post under false names (which the minister calls "fake accounts") for the same reason: protection. And just to round it up, please allow me a question: Apart from government ministers, how many opposition leaders and grassroots peoples' representatives were invited as speakers to this so-called seminar? None? Well, so much for "contributing views from all sides in a democratic nation", huh? I rest my case.
