Twitter flags Trump tweet for violating its rules on COVID-19 information

(Reuters) - Twitter on Sunday flagged a tweet by Donald Trump in which the U.S. President claimed he was immune to the coronavirus, saying it violated the social media platform's rules about misleading information related to COVID-19.

 

"A total and complete sign off from White House Doctors yesterday. That means I can't get it (immune), and can't give it. Very nice to know," Trump said in the tweet.

 

The post was flagged by Twitter with a disclaimer.

 

"This Tweet violated the Twitter Rules about spreading misleading and potentially harmful information related to COVID-19," Twitter's disclaimer read, adding that it had determined that it may be in the public's interest for the tweet to remain accessible.

 

A Twitter spokeswoman told Reuters that the tweet made "misleading health claims" about COVID-19 and that engagements with the post would be "significantly limited," as is standard in such cases.

 

Trump said on Sunday he had fully recovered from COVID-19 and would not be a transmission risk to others, freeing him to return to holding big campaign rallies during the final weeks of the race for the White House.

 

The president first announced that he had had a positive coronavirus test on Oct. 2. Trump's physician said on Saturday the president had taken a test showing he was no longer infectious.

 

The scientific evidence is unclear on how long people who have recovered from COVID-19 have antibodies and are protected from a second infection.

 

Trump, who is trailing Democrat Joe Biden in opinion polls ahead of the Nov. 3 election, is eager to get back on the campaign trail after an absence of more than a week.

 

He plans to travel to the key battleground state of Florida on Monday, followed by rallies in Pennsylvania and Iowa on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.

You are assuming that the Twitter "fact checkers" (and what medical qualification and access to Trump's personal medical file do these anonymous people have??) know more about Trump's medical situation that the highly paid professional white House doctors.

 

 I would say his claims are unproven, not flat out false. Just my opinion.

Latest news is the Trump campaign has lifted a Fauci statement directed at frontline health workers, and used it as evidence Fauci supports Trump in an ad campaign they are running in Michigan re coronavirus. Fauci has done nothing of the sort.

Perhaps Trump supporters are incapable of comprehending the lies and deceit which are Trump's modus operandi. It's the ultimate expression of Orwell's doublethink.

The professional White House doctors you speak of are directed by Trump to say what he wants. Or lose their highly paid positions. Physicians outside the Trump sphere of influence are unanimous Trump's actions are recklessly putting people at risk. That's probably who the Twitter fact checkers are listening to.

Latest scientific information is people can catch a second dose of Covid 19. So TWITTER are correct in putting a signal on Trumps ravings. Why can't this man obey any rules is it because he does not understand them or is it because he really believes he is infallible.

From what I have seen and read, these are people that still have dead fragments of the virus in them.  Of course there is always an exception  for anything considering there are over 7.5 billion people on the planet and someone will have a highly unusual abnormality that is a .00001 chance.

Since he refuses to read, he is again very confused. He is not immune. He got the virus, and he got sick. He could barely speak during the Hannity interview. And even if someone is immune, this science reject does not know that there is a difference between immunity, and the ability to spread the disease. Many younger people get it, are infected, show no symptoms, yet spread it. Dumb and dumber. Little Don. 

 

Now worries. He will be gone in a few months. After Trump is unceremoniously ushered out of DC in January, when he reluctantly and bitterly hands the reins over to a far more capable man, political scientists and opinion writers will spend years dissecting the mad experiment of the Trump presidency, when democracy was nearly lost to a wannabe despot, who ignored the rule of law, at every opportunity.

He has succeeded on a few levels. He has made the US the laughing stock of the world. He has allowed the US to become the most radioactive nation on earth, with over 7 million Covid cases, many of which are directly attributed to his polices, his ignorance, his willingness to ignore multiple warmings by experts, and his hubris. Granted, the rest can be linked to the world's highest levels of heart disease, diabetes, and morbid obesity, combined with a horrific diet.

 

He has severely eroded and nearly destroyed alliances that took decades to build. He has succeeded in allowing China to emerge from all of this looking strong and smart, Xi beat him in his own trade war, two minutes into the first round. Knocked him out cold. And he has succeeded in making himself look like an out of touch fool, a relic, and a terrible leader. Barr has acted as his personal lawyer, and he too will unceremoniously depart Washington into a life of obscurity and ridicule.

Trump is his own hero, next he will say that the virus is just like the regular flu, after all, the steroids, and his daily dose of a special medication made him feel well in just a few days.  I do hope the first lady recovers as quickly and has no lasting side affects. How well will Trump be, when completely off all his meds and steroids is another question.  Glad twitter is still monitoring him.

They do not need to 'prove'. This is not a courtroom. There's enough reason to call the President's words false based on available information and expert views. That's the same process applied to all users, only difference is that Trump gets treated with silk gloves.
