Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan is calling on administrative organisations as well as military and police officers to help volunteers provide assistance to 15,740 households in 18 provinces that were affected by floods.

The deputy PM’s spokesperson Lt-General Kongcheep Tantrawanich said on Thursday that Prawit has also instructed officials in Nakhon Ratchasima and Surat Thani to open drainage channels to reduce the water levels in the area.

"In areas where flooding has reduced, Prawit has instructed officials to repair public utilities and people’s residences, launch cleaning operations and work towards alleviating farmers’ suffering,” Kongcheep said.

“Meanwhile, he has also ordered officials to cooperate with the Office of National Water Resources to reserve water in reservoirs and solve problems in flood-prone areas.”

Right now in Sisaket we are under another massive shower.

We have been walking in deep mud for so many weeks I can't remember how it feels to not wear rubber boots.

This horrendous weather is disastrous for the farmers who are not able to cut their rice, let alone to dry it...

"Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan is CALLING on administrative organisations as well as military and police officers to help..."

This is why nothing gets accomplished in Thailand. Any other totalitarian regime would DEMAND that all administration organizations and governmental departments get involved…Or Else!!! We’ve already seen how effective ASKING drivers to obey traffic laws works. Expect nothing to change, and hope at least some of those folks affected by the floods know how to swim.

General Prawit has his very own spokesman, another General who speaks the words that should come out of the Generals own mouth.

Here is an example:
