BANGKOK (NNT) - After a large amount of water burst out of Hin Ta Ngo reservoir and flooded areas of Pak Thong Chai district, Nakhon Ratchasima province, on Saturday, officials have been sent to inspect the damage and undertake repairs. The Prime Minister and Defense Minister, Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha, has instructed relevant agencies to monitor water levels closely, and promptly evacuate people to safety, if necessary.

Gen. Prayut ordered relevant agencies, such as the Royal Irrigation Department (RID), the Office of the National Water Resources (ONWR) and provincial administrations, to address the issue urgently, advise residents to be prepared to move, and assemble essential personnel and equipment to provide assistance around the clock. People in need of assistance can contact officials at any time.

The RID Deputy Director-General, Thaweesak Thanadachopol, said today that the right side of the embankment of Hin Ta Ngo reservoir and its drainage channel were damaged, causing water to flood into Lam Prakhon and Non Samrong villages in Lam Nang Kaeo subdistrict. Officials are now assessing the damage and conducting repairs to the structure. Water bursting out of the reservoir will however, not affect the water level of Lam Phra Phloeng dam.

The Deputy Minister of Commerce, Weerasak Wangsupakitkosol, together with Nakhon Ratchasima Member of Parliament (MP), Atirat Ratanasate, and the Governor of Nakhon Ratchasima, Wichian Chantharothai, have handed relief supplies to flood-affected residents of the northeastern province.

On Sunday night, the provincial governor issued a warning to people living near water sources in 10 districts, advising them to be prepared for evacuation. Vehicles with loudspeakers have been deployed to areas most at-risk, warning people to be on alert.

He's concerned about flooding up-country but not about the use of water canons on innocent peaceful protesters who he once said he considered as his own children.

If I were in his position, I would be concerned about alot more than flooding, at this point. It is time to step down. Get out now. The people are making their voices very clear. You have grossly over extended your welcome.

What exactly is he doing about it? He ordered agencies to 'address the issue". Let's set up some committees with sub committees. Unless you can tell me Who does What, by When.....then you have no plan at all. There is no plan.....only 'concern'.

There it is all sorted out by Prayut! A man with a van and a loudspeaker telling people to prepare to evacuate. Time for Uncle to resign I think.

As usual, he says he is concerned and then promptly tells an agency to monitor it or sort out the problem !   He does nothing to help cos he is scared too, won't accept responsibility for doing his job. If others screw up he can pass the blame. If they do a good job, which is very rare. he takes the credit.  Sooner they kick him out, the better for the whole country.

That's actually the only way to get rid of all this damn water...sharing it between the peasants and the students!

And deploy sidestep distraction about protests ! Go go gadget ....
