For countless generations Thailand has been utterly egocentric and seen the rest of the world as somewhat inferior. Perhaps this latest setback for the Thai government might start to get it through to them that they simply can't just go plotting and scheming, regardless.

They're looking pretty stupid, making all these clever hub and bubble plans, when the regulations in other countries simply don't fit in with them.

I know it must come as a shock, Thailand, but the rest of the world simply isn't geared-up to bother much with your grab-a-tourist plans - they've got problems of their own.

And, probably for the first time ever, Thailand needs to be interested enough in farang countries to find out what foreign nations are doing, before it comes up with yet another laughable foot-in-mouth announcement.

STV sounds more like a sexually transmitted disease, one which could be picked up if encounters are made at the wrong establishments.

Come to Thailand. We know you want to!" Really?

The left hand has no idea what the right hand is doing & vice versa

The Country is on the verge of disaster so we better invite people from China who gave us their lovely virus.

Can it get any more insane?

Yes, who doesn't want to prepay 150K with the risk of not actually flying, go through mountains of paperwork, quarantine for 14 days on arrival, maybe 28 if they come up positive on day 13 (another potential scam), then once the ordeal is over, visit a dirty beach for a while and then return to China for another 14 days of quarantine.

Sounds like what all tourists have been dreaming about.

Addressing the Chinese he said: "There's no problem  - come to Thailand. We know you want to!"

Addendum :- "You knows it makes sense!"

Why do they want to , there are many cheaper places and better value places with no restrictions than Thailand .

If doesn’t works with Chinese, then try have a word with Indians They likes Massaman and mamasan.

What is it exactly that Phiphat does not understand about the fact that CHINA has said it will ban all Tour Groups.

This will obviously mean Chinese Tourists of any kind. The CCP need their Citizens to stay put in China and spend Money on Domestic Tourism. There is no room in their remit to entertain Thailand and this Minister spitting out his Dummy.

My 5 Year Old can understand something such as this.

consulates in Russia had told potential STV tourists that they could not get the coveted CoE (certificate of entry) to come to Thailand.

'Deleted Russia!!! They have one of the highest Covid rates in the World!!!

Pipat Ratchakitprakarn said he may need to have a word with the Chinese authorities so that their people will understand this ban doesn't apply to those seeking entry on the STV or special tourism visa that is an entirely different matter.

Translation:

Khun Pipat will grovel, plead, and beg for his Chinese masters to please understand that esteemed and revered guests from the 100% Virus free Celestial Kingdom are unconditionally welcome.

And they will certainly not be inconvenienced with unnecessary paperwork, health restrictions, annoying quarantines, or any other troubling distractions. These measures are for the loathsome and disease-ridden farangs.

Honored guests from China will always be encouraged to enjoy their holidays with all the freedoms superior people deserve.

Thailand the masters of miscommunication and misunderstandings.... Done deliberately or is it due to incompetence, probably a mixture of both...

Incompetent at being incompetent... More like inpotantancy of the brain.

Khun Pipat does not seem to understand this ........

I highley believe that the chinese they have let come in with the stv's are not actually tourists, but people with some kind of ties to thailand maybe business or something else, perhaps buying property. Its highley unlikely you will be seeing these guys jumping on jet ski's or frequenting places that are dying without tourism.

Just my 2 cents.

Wow, a holiday of a life time, visiting Thailand is so coveted that tourists actually be willing to jump through hoops be locked up and pay for it just to visit Thailand,  this tourism minister is deluding himself that people are that gullible and that this will actually happen in significant numbers to justify all this brouhaha...

Lots of Chinese own property here just like Westerners.  Maybe they are just trying to get back to their second home?  That sure is the case with lots of foreigners.  Our village now has a lot of semi-permanent Chinese.

Hellbent on just getting Chinese.
Nothing else will do obviously,

Must be some brain decease.

Pipat ran the PTT stations and founded them with his wife. That qualified him to become tourism minister. He knew alot about travel, as anyone who fills up with gas, needs to travel to a gas station.

I went to CW last week for extension of stay, that's why????. And yes, they wanted an extra document from me, as always. This time a copy of the Tm30.

next year, bring a certified copy of the copy who before was a copy of the copy you made from the original, which was also a copy.

Sign on both sides, stamp it and make a copy.

Don't forget, blue ink only.

Make sure it is a "BIC" pen, otherwise the ink won't be recognised as a true signature on your copy.

Corruption seems to pay apparently, and then you can land a job in order to launder it all.  Afterwards you will obtain a free amnesty that you gave yourself.  Win Win apparently.  No wonder the protestors want them out.  Looting the country they love so much.

with many questioning if they were really "tourists" at all, notes Thaivisa.

reliable source (can't disclose name for safety reasons) involved with their arrival told me None were tourists, all government employees and family members invited by Thai government as promotional advertising to instigate/motivate them to come in mass

They are going to set their stall out for the Chinese market and go down the same road.....all their eggs in one basket.

Tourism from the rest of the world will slowly shrink.....covid20 is only a matter of time...the Chinese will never change their eating habits...and it will happen all over again.

as we commonly say .... it's all deja vue 555
