The virus is all around us, like a flu virus, but does not like certain conditions to survive in, like a military or communist government.

As it is proven most deaths relate to the elderly and those with pre-existing conditions (many of which are caused by poor lifestyle choices), life should return to normal and the "vulnerable" people should take responsibility for protecting themselves with help from governments where necessary (basically anyone whose condition is not caused by smoking, eating too much or drinking too much).

What visa is she on ?

I thought tourism was at a stand still except for a hand full of Chinese.

“French Woman Contracted COVID after Quarantine“

The virus is here.  Simple and clear as water.  Which is very difficult for these leaders to understand... they don’t learn. No test, No virus

Boring, who cares, we all will get it, or the next one. Live for today, not for tomorrow!

Actually she was in quarantine at Samut Prakan and the source that can not be quoted reports covid virus has been found on an exercise machine in that hotel.

So!! They're swabbing exercise bikes? I doubt it.

Wish they would name the hotel because there were 3 cases linked to quarantine in Samut Prakan yesterday.  Surely the whole hotel and quarantinees must start at day 1 again for their quarantine.

Bangkok Post article today. Strongly suggests she got infected while in quarantine. Which is what would be most consistent with the timing of her symptoms and positive test.

It is. She will not have entered on a tourist visa.

Not clear but some reports have suggested she had dual Thai/French nationality.

As suspected, possible cross contamination from someone else who was also infected in quarantine.  It just begs to be asked if all members of the staff at the ASQ have been tested as well now.

What's something like this that caused the outbreak in Melbourne?  Lax security guards or something like that?

I never actually heard of where they tracked that down too in Melbourne.  With the cold weather moving upon countries now, it looks like its starting to pick up again.

They have and reportedly all are negative. So far no person she associated with has tested positive...and there is minimal to no direct contact between hotel staff and guests in quarantine.

What is nto mentioned is whether there were other known positive cases in the same quarantine facility in say the past month.

covid ,covid covid i reckon its killed the dengue fever and all other infection one could get.

Irresponsible, incorrect headline.  As I posted on another thread, her last covid test was 3 days before she left quarantine.  She could have had the virus and it was missed due to the 3 day period she was not tested prior to her release.  She could have contracted the virus after leaving quarantine but it's also true that she could have had the virus on arrival, perhaps caught at the French airport or on the flight, and it didn't show up during the first 11 days of quarantine.

I have to wonder sometimes if the bodies natural defense system for some people has an immunity based upon the life they have lived, and not a herd immunity as people keep trying to say is needed.

Cannibalism !!!

They likely detected her because she was able to get tested, being on the tracking list. Not an easy feat for mere mortals, so they walk among us, asymptomatic. At this point not much to worry about.

It is exactly what I have been saying for the past few months.  The Asymptomatic folks walk amongst us, and unless there are random voluntary tests completed then Thailand will never know the severity.  The truth of it is that people do not want to test, because even if asymptomatic they will still be forced into a hospital by this government and not be able to sequester at home until tested again and found to be negative.  It truly is a double edged sword that is very delicately being balanced upon.

She has been tested multiple times Fred.  She is showing signs and symptoms of the virus as well, and is in the hospital being treated.

If there were asymptomatic people wandering around the community they would be spreading it to others. Some of them would become sick and some would die. Your argument has no logic. Where are the overflowing hospitals? Where are the dead bodies?

Silly. Prayut ordered the virus to stay away. So what? ????????????

For some people it can take up to 3 weeks to test positive and the quarantine is only 2 weeks. So why are Thailand planning to reduce the quarantine to 10 or maybe even as low as 7 days?

2 hours ago, JusticeGB said:

And Anutin wants to reduce the quarantine period to 7 days.

Because studies have shown that after few days (was it 5, 7 or something like that), the infected person is not contagious anymore and therefore the quarantine length could be reduced.
