SAMUI (NNT) - Following the confirmation of a French national being tested positive for COVID-19 in Samui Island, even after clearing 14-days in quarantine, the Minister of Public Health has flown to the island to deliver Favipiravir antiviral drugs to local hospitals.

The Minister of Public Health, Anutin Charnvirakul, has travelled to Koh Samui to deliver 1,000 tablets of Favipiravir antiviral drugs to local hospitals.

Favipiravir has been cleared for COVID-19 treatment in patients with severe symptoms in Thailand. The delivery of this antiviral drug follows the confirmation that a female French national tested positive for the virus on the island, even after having completed her 14-days in quarantine.

The Minister of Public Health said the patient could have contracted the virus at the quarantine facility, and health authorities must find these loopholes to address them.

He said the general public should not worry, as the health and safety measures currently in place are stringent, and all health officials are working their best to prevent the spread.

Mr. Anutin said the area where the patient was found has been restricted, with all close contacts traced for testing in a timely manner, reassuring the general public that there is no need to panic over this situation.

One would assume that if it was efficient in treating patients, all hospitals would have some supply of the antiviral drug already in supply ? Or is this clown going to personally deliver 1,000 capsules to each area, should an infection be recorded ?

It could, on the other hand, be a way of getting himself another 15 minutes of "fame" !

WHY? Surely all he was doing was grabbing attention for himself.

Now you hopefully understand why the treatment is so expensive.

A waste of tax payers money again. The drugs could have been delivered with Flash Express or J&T.

This couldn't possibly be connected with the fact that there was a long weekend holiday due? How long did he have to stay on the island after delivering the drugs? Did his family travel with him?

PR stunt to show the world Thailand is in control....

Samui was already suffering a lot.

Now, with the "French" case, Thais won't go there very soon.

Next nail in the coffin.

They were Excited to get the tourists back in , this case will prove the saying 1 step forward 3 steps back, Europe is suffering again and each reported case in Los will be flashed across the internet faster than Anutin can deliver the Pills

Its so he can show his new Pals at the WHO what a decent fellow he is.

Everything is under controle all the quarantine places are controled and save and no need to panic , but this peace of .... says she probably caught it while in quarantine while other news says she caught it after leaving quarantine wich is strange because she left 20th and had symptoms the 22th so that can't be treu . They better all keep their mouths shut and just let it go it's course because everything they say is contradictive so doesn't make any sence whatsoever . Keep going the way things are going now without anybody saying anything is the safest thing to do , it makes people have some hope till the vaccine is here and then can go back to normal sa far as it can , but please let them all shut their pieholes . They all do more damage then good Anutin , Prayut , wichever <deleted> speaks .

Replace the "i" with an "a"

He is gunning for Prayut's job. Woe is us.

If he showed up at my door, I would sic my dog on him.

LOL!  You havnt been out much have you Autin?  In my village no masks, no social distancing, festivals still proceeding and people approaching my masked wife and I asking "you not finished with covid?"

The whole thing is a joke!!

From my experience it takes a few hours only with Bangkok Airways airfreight, so the tablets could have been on the island about two days ago. However, isn't Favipiravir the drug that didn't show specific results in the WHO-studies, whilst Remdesivir shows the best effect, the latter has been kind of approved to use in a number of countries.

I’m sure a 1000 people would rather he rolled up with a box of doughnuts !
The doughnuts would probably be more use !

As more and more people thinking in Europe, 80 % of the test gives a false positive. So just keep testing and it will be negative.
