'It'll be carnage': British companies dread a Brexit border breakdown

No, only until they get their desired result, then it will have been the final one.

Do you think Brexiteers would had stopped after one referendum?

You guys would have been calling for one every time a boatload of refugees washed up in Dover.

Just about everyone

Like just about everyone knows what that significant event was?

Oh, hang on; only you know that and you refuse to tell!

Express.

Why not get something from Breitbart or Infowars?

Maybe Qanon have written a lengthy and comprehensive article outlining how the former colonies are beating a path to the UK in order to rejoin the Empire.

Very wobbly now.

I would like to say that I am amazed at this reaction to a matter of fact from you.

Unfortunately; it's your typical type of response when proven wrong.

Let's be honest; Brexiteers were calling for another referendum ever since they lost the 1975 one!

Awa ye go. You had your referendum and lost.

Yes but with the new covid19 restrictions the migrants are only allowed 6 persons to a dinghy now.

Then you are indeed both naïve and ill informed about our party system and the power of the whips! But right about the goons you call a national embarrassment. But 'twas ever thus; in all parties.

Having said that, their are some backbenchers who do stand out, such as Frank Field, now Baron Field, but they are, regrettably, few and far between.

If you believe that I have a bridge for sale! The 2016 referendum was called because Cameron was afraid of losing votes to UKIP; do you really think that the same threat and pressure would not have resulted in another one?

Remainers, or most of us at least, respect the result; but in a democracy we are allowed to voice our criticism of it.

In a democracy we are also allowed to campaign for a say on the effects of that result via a referendum on the WA.

It is the Brexiteer attempts to stifle all debate on the subject that is undemocratic.

I know the Brexiteer thinking: 52% to 48% victory for Remain; too close to call. 52% to 48% victory for leave; magnificent victory!

Yes, it was a victory for your side; but hardly magnificent. A narrow scrape is more accurate.

I am talking about exceptional politicians. Naïvety has nothing to do with that.

I've already said what I think. The pressure from leave for a revote would have been weak and there would have been no second go.

Remainers do not appear to respect the result; that's why you have been voicing your criticism of it constantly for the last 4 years!

It was a magnificent victory because it was won against all the odds and polls.

Don't be amazed. No GE is single issue and now you bring in by elections as well. All registered voters can vote in GEs and referendums.

You have no real point to make but your your typical response is to use the words "proven wrong" and try and claim some kind if imaginary victory. In your dreams.

Sadly in respected media sources the spin is not the same as you Brexiteers would want it.

Its only from comic books like the Express and Daily Mail that you will find the feel good echo chamber stuff you guys enjoy so much.

If I start posting links to reputable sources you guys come out in a rash and given its the weekend I shall spare you from facts and allow you to go out in public without being covered in camomile lotion.

You can thank me later.

Thanks for posting (No, I'm not being sarcastic). Notwithstanding the fact that the headline - almost inevitably - bears little resemblance to the article itself, it's an interesting read (There's something I doubted I'd say about an Express article).

Interesting what Mr Kukies had to say: “German corporates, for all that I can tell, rely massively on wholesale financing offered from the City of London, so in that sense we will have to maintain pragmatism, no matter what happens."

"...Maintain pragmatism": What a shame that we don't have government politicians who feel the same way.

True, as well as 'drain remain'.

"Nothing is agreed until it is all agreed." was the EU position some time ago, when they were refusing to discuss  trade arrangements unless they had a Withdrawal Agreement.

We now find today that “We are in very close contact on an hourly basis because the negotiations now have been intensified … There are 11 other fields of files that have to be negotiated.” What are all those 11 fields, because we only publicly know of three. If/when Macron does not back down over his fishing demands, then nothing is agreed and we are out No Deal, or will the EU now decide its a good time to cherry pick? Either way it's the time to ditch the WA too.

You couldn't make this up. They have a problem with perfectly safe chlorinated US chicken, but not their own unhygienic animal practices. Then they have a problem with our stricter standards for plant diseases than theirs and threaten their legal action.

Why should this difference in opinion be so surprising? Presumably, UK scientists have come to one conclusion, EU scientists another. If the Covid crisis has highlighted anything, it's that scientists disagree.

And why are you upset? The UK agreed to abide by EU regulations until the end of transition, hence the legal challenge (nothing will come of it anyway). The alternative would be for the UK's rules to be imposed on EU states. I thought that you were against that sort of thing?

I attempted to correct your utterly wrong explanation of why a general election is called a general election.

But as usual with you, you  cannot accept that you got a simple matter of fact wrong. As usual, you try to 'prove' me wrong by repeating something I said but presenting it as an original thought by you!

Yes, let's show the countries we want to sign trade agreements with that we are ready, willing and able to break international agreements we not only signed but proclaimed as a triumph whenever we feel like it.

That'll certainly encourage other countries to sign agreements with us; not!

We all want them to get on with Brexit.  Just how many more "deadlines" is Johnson going to extend?   If the government is incapable of agreeing a deal with the EU then so be it.  Compared to the economic devastation being caused by the pandemic, Brexit seems like an also ran!

Your self proclaimed prescience foretold that 'event;' but you wouldn't put your money where your mouth was and say what it was going to be.

You then claimed the 'event' had happened and are now claiming to have 'enlightened interested parties in real time with ample evidence!"

Yet, despite your continual boasting to this board of your pre knowledge of this 'event,' you still refuse to post here what it was.

The conclusion is obvious; your so called 'event' never happened.

Go on; prove me wrong by finally telling us all what it was and when and where it happened.

Your silence or yet another refusal or pathetic excuse will be ample proof that I am right.

Express sub editors always design their headlines to be sensationalist and as such they usually bear little or no relation to the actual contents of the article.

To be fair, Express subs are not alone in this practice.

Unfortunately, there are certain posters here who only read the headline, not the article. The obvious error in so doing has been pointed out to them on numerous occasions; but they never learn.
