BANGKOK (NNT) - The government has invited the public to contribute to the rescue and assistance of flood affected residents of the southern region, while the Office of the Prime Minister has insisted the government still has a separate disaster relief budget available.

The Office of the Prime Minister‘s Permanent Secretary Theerapat Prayurasiddhi, announced today that the government has opened a designated donation account for flood victims in nine southern provinces, which will be used in addition to the Office of the Prime Minister’s own Disaster Victims’ Relief Fund to purchase supply kits, and compensate damaged households for injuries, and deaths.

Mr Theerapat has reassured the public that the government has been utilizing money donated by the general public wholly to assist victims of the drought, floods, and fires, as well as a shooting incident in Nakhon Ratchasima this year.

Members of the public who wish to donate can transfer or deposit their money to Kasikornthai Bank account number 067-0-06895-0, which is owned by the Office of the Prime Minister.

People who wish to donate items instead of cash can do so by sending such items to the affected areas directly. They are asked however, to coordinate with the provincial governors first for orderliness and safety.

The Prime Minister’s Office Permanent Secretary said today the Prime Minister has instructed that the government’s disaster budget be used first, however the donation account has been opened as an official channel for people who wish to make donations.

I find it worrying when a spokesman has to say something like this.

No subsidies then

Maybe there’s a use for those submarines after all.

But the purse strings and red tape make it hard to get.

Just seen a huge amount of money spent, on this weekends ceremony's, and now they want the public to donate money. :post-4641-1156693976:
