A driver smuggling a large shipment of drugs across the Mekong River from Laos on Sunday was shocked to find a posse of police waiting for them on the Thai side.

On Tuesday, police in the Northeast border province of Mukdahan announced they had seized 384 kilogrammes of crystal meth worth Bt150 million after being tipped off.

Responding to a report that a smuggling operation was underway, officers began searching a secluded spot by the river on Sunday.

They then received another report that a 10-wheeler truck had been spotted by the riverside. Officers raced to the spot and opened the truck to discover the huge haul of drugs piled inside.

Police arrested the driver and are now hunting for two more suspects.

BIB bungles in again. Why not follow the truck to its destination and nab more of the offenders? (possibly those higher up the chain?)

Good job by the Police! I guess someone's bank account is going to missing a few baht for that shipment.

A few Thai bank accounts will have deposits.

Short notice, no time to set up a sting operation.

Get the stuff off the streets now. Well done BIB.

The driver never seen them ,as he had the curtains drawn..

The police at the destination would then be the ones to keep the 150 million baht worth of produce.

Why reach out and grab 150 million baht, if you're just going to let it all slip through your fingers.

Because nothing gets past quarantine regulations, the driver is not allowed to enter.
