Phetchaburi: Hospital director gunned down over 130 baht prescription

Thai media has reported that a doctor who was a hospital director in Phetchaburi was gunned down in cold blood by a Ya Ba crazed man who was angry over having to pay 130 baht for a prescription. 

 

Dr Chumpon Techa-amphai - director of Phra Chom Klao Hospital (King Mongkut Memorial) - was shot six times. 

 

CCTV footage showed a man in a white cap arrive at a clinic on Matyawong Road in Muang district, start shooting off camera before running off as receptionists scattered.

 

It was originally thought that the shooter may have been romantically involved with a worker at the clinic but this now appears not to be the case as the doctor was not known to have had an affair with anyone. 

 

Pol Maj-Gen Sumet Punasee of the Samut Songkhram police said that Denphoom Sangthong, 22, was arrested at a hotel in Samut Songkhram province along with a 9 mm gun and 100 rounds of ammunition. 

 

The suspect said that he was angry at the service he received from the hospital. He said that he had made many complaints in writing but had received no resolution. His anger built up.

 

On the day in question he had bought 1,000 baht worth of Ya Ba (speed mixed with caffeine) and had gone to the hospital where he was charged 130 baht instead of 30 under the universal health care scheme.

 

Along with the Ya Ba use this tipped him over the edge and he was unable to control himself so he went to the clinic where he knew the director worked and murdered him. 

 

It was not connected to any affair over a woman as the suspect did not know where a woman he was interested in worked and the doctor had no relationship with a staff member.

!000 baht for ya ba ok, 130 baht for medication no ok, not the sharpest tool in the shed, is he? 

Hate to think what he would have done if he had to pay for a prescription at a Private Hospital

For sure he took the wrong pills... 

This is thailand

Everything is resolved through visit leave and the cause is always drugs, cheating, sex or money or all the above.

Let's hope he never gets back into society.....

Probably the money would have been gone, nothing left for ammo and yaba.

The report kept focusing on non existent love affairs between various people .

The shooting was because of alleged over charging , the report kept mentioning and denying people involved werent in a relationship .

She should do the lottery this week.

I am not sure if Ya Ba or Pa Pa has anything to do with it. They guy has the means to own a gun but not 130 baht to pay for his medicine?

Obviously the Dr did not know how to deal with the man and drove him to the insane act.
