Phun Phin police including the Surat Thani provincial governor examined the scene after a 30 year old woman was found dead in a Toyota Yaris parked under a tree on the Southern Seaport Road (Surat to Krabi) in southern Thailand.

Thitirat, from Chaiyaphum and an official of the Bangkok Metropolitan Authority was slumped in the front passenger seat. It appeared she had been shot three times in the right side of the abdomen. There were also signs of bruising on the face and head. She had been dead three days.

A purse was lying at her feet. She was still wearing her seatbelt. The car with Bangkok plates appeared to be hers.

A member of the public had seen the car parked but thought nothing of it. However three days later their suspicions were aroused and they looked in and discovered the body and called the police.

Relatives of the deceased could only say that she had gone south to see a boyfriend. They didn't know his name or where he was from precisely.

Investigations are now underway to find out exactly who she was to meet in the south.
