Where can I cash American Express travelers cheques in Pattaya?

Still probably the safest way of carrying cash when travelling.

But they're not cash...that's the problem. If they were, the op wouldn't have any problems. In the age of credit/ATM cards and mobile banking apps, I don't really see a compelling use scenario for TCs.

Especially if nobody can use them anywhere...in the worst case not even yourself.

Last I have cashed American Express TC   was in a Pattaya Bangkok Bank FEx Booth 3 years ago.

At the time there were no other Bank FEx  and non-bank FEx  accepting and cashing.

Sooner or later this thing is going to be OBSELETE   after an official announcement.

I don't bother to wait.   So I had made up my mind and  cashed out all I had 3 years ago, regardless how much I had liked this method for decades.

And admit it, you never did.

I have cashed TC's at Krung Thai on Pattaya Klang within the last 3 years.

I'm just trying to think when I last had traveller's cheques, must be 40 years ago. After the advent of debit/credit cards, they became as obsolete as button-up boots and fedoras. I last wrote a personal cheque nine years ago.

I would have thought the place to go for guidance would be an American Express office.

Obsolete, even though it was a better rate of exchange?

What's the use scenario for anyone lending money interest free to AmEx these days?

Pretty much the same as keeping it in a bank.....

But at least with a bank, I can go in anytime and get my money. With these TCs, I have pieces of paper in my wallet and am left wandering around aimlessly trying to find someone who will give me money for them. With my ATM card, I just step up to any of the hundreds of money boxes in town and presto, like magic, it spits out money.

Sure...I'll admit it, I've never bought travelers checks. When I first realized it was basically an interest free loan to American Express Co. I said the heck with that (back 20-30 years ago when interest rates were not zero). Even when I first started traveling overseas, and ATMs/cards weren't really a thing, I just brought a fat wad of new Benjamins with me. So many Manila taxi drives missed their chance for an easy few thousands dollars by knocking me off back then ????????????

They had an advantage 20-30 years ago. Mine got stolen on Bali and I got a replacement without a problem. Credit Cards could not be used in many countries at this time. And if someone steals your cash you will be lost. Today I wouldn't buy them anymore.

Yes, that was the use scenario "back then," they were like money that if stolen, could be replaced. That was fine when they were ubiquitous and easy to cash/replace. They slowly went the way of the Dodo when ATM machines/cards came on the scene.

Yes a Thai bank I can do the same. Try getting a refund on cash if you lose it or it is stolen. Many years ago, the alternative was to either travel carrying lots of cash, or use travelers cheques for the security. Some things have got easier.....

Travellers Cheques are still easy to use, its just that the cost of cashing them in became too much.

Who knows what lays ahead for Bank Accounts for Foreigners?

Tell me about it, having some problems myself right now, but more about having  accounts and living overseas.
