I wouldn’t underestimate the Thais when it come to building rockets.

Issan has had its on version of NASA for decades already. if you have never been, I highly recommend it.

The drawing that accompanies this new report is rather misleading.  A spacecraft that weighs 300 Kg will not carry any humans..

 

I think the Thais are irked by the recent and successful missions by China and Japan to land space probes on the moon and a small asteroid (respectively), to collect rock and dust samples, and to return these successfully back to the earth.

 

But putting a small Cubesat into orbit around the earth (I mentioned this in the other, recent space thread), is rather different to launching a probe to land on the moon....

At 11 km per hour, it will be slower than a 50 old Russian car. Many people can power walk that fast. 

 

I assume it is a misprint. But, the real question is why? What is to he learned from the moon, at this point, that is not already known? And that budget is ridiculously low. Ten times that would not get you to the moon. Looks like some sort of out of touch, Thai Air Force vanity project, designed to prevent aid getting to the masses, in their time of need.

It's going to take a while to get there. Space cadets will be beyond retirement age or dead before they get there.

Thai's in positions of authority love to come out with ridiculous claims, just to get praise that they are doing something meaningful around bonus time.

 

We all know this, along with the Tour de France in Thailand, F1 race in Bangkok and the AIDS vaccine will never materialize, but is made great press fodder and 15-minutes of fame for some Somchai who was feeling left out.

 

Moon's been done. Mars is Elon's....so think about Uranus...that's probably more within reach of Thailand's dreams.

Probably a lot longer - it will give way to every other spacecraft heading to the moon and any satellite in the area as it travels there. That said, if they string a few of the new hi-tech satellites between here and there with red lights on them beforehand, it will get there quicker by running the red lights.

So when will these so called delusional government officials get their priorities right.there many people out there who can ‘t even afford 2 quare meals a day.people need jobs clean water quality education and more.I think these bigwigs in government live only in Bangkok so they are out of touch with the reality in Thailand.this is just another waste of  the tax payers money.
