Even if you could -- and I don't think you could since the limited vaccine stocks in the U.S. supposedly are being reserved for now for priority recipients like elderly and health care workers -- you'd be facing an enforced 2 week ASQ quarantine upon returning to Thailand.

Given the current virus picture in the US, perhaps even banned to enter the LOS?

The same Astra-Zentaca/Oxford vaccine that Thailand contracted to purchase as soon as it was in production is being rolled out in the UK.  So it does beg the question - why not here?

From what I read Thailand purchase the AZ/Oxford

vaccines once in they were in production and well as purchasing the rights for the technology transfer to manufacture their own.

One set of rules for First World countries?.
A different set of rules for Third World and Developing?

Makes one wonder.  Perhaps someone can provide first-hand knowledge as why there is a difference between the UK and Thailand.

The UK has a government elected by the voters and they mostly all have real university educations while in Thailand, they have

a "government" which bullied their way in to power about 6 years ago, and mostly educated at a military academy.

They are still there even after a rigged general election, still with an unelected "PM".

Just stating the obvious be it seems that so much everything "Thai" needs to somehow benefit a subset of the population at the expense of the rest of the population.   Sad

So the queues at the food banks in the US include all subsets of the American population equally?

As a country that was so sure they had so little numbers , I would say Thailand is well down the delivery list of vaccine suppliers . A place that said only 60 odd dead and 3000 or so infections despite having the same population as the uk roughly and now they seem to have either been the unluckiest country going with this latest outbreak or the fact they are having to test people is showing the figures were off before ! Know which one I’m betting on ????

The Oxford vaccine has been produced at a strictly not for profit price of £3 during the pandemic so how this will fit into the Thai gov gouging opportunities at any cost is anyone's guess  ????

Lets see.
Go to or local national park.
Admission for Thais (only written in Thai script - 40 THB)
Admission for Dirty Foreigners (only written in English - 400 THB).

So - extend that model to how xenophobic Thais with a greed complex will take advantage of the situation.
Too bad organizations like the UN and the WHO don't get involved and mandate that public health supersedes individual (greedy) country's profit motives.

But?  BAH.  It will never happen.

Why all the fuss? Thailand proved, the first time round that it can beat this virus and I can think of no reason why they cannot beat it again this time. The country is very well prepared.

By all means let's have the virus available ASAP and get the front line workers protected first. They are the most important one to vaccinate. Then roll it out to the urban areas where clusters are most likely to spread. The rural areas have already proved they can deal with it.

But IMO, beating the virus, using the already well proven tactics should be the first

China appear to have beat the virus without the need for a vaccine, Thailand with their low number of cases and quarantine thought the same so never pre ordered vaccines. It would appear Thailand has been caught with its pants down ?

It was reported on the 27th Nov that Thailand had ordered 60 million doses of the Oxford/AZ vaccine and signed a deal for local production. So why do you think that Thailand has been caught out?

I agree, China does seem to have been successful in beating the virus without recourse to vaccines. And so had Thailand, but China does not have the problem of porous borders with countries that haven't.

Pre ordered and signed for it but when do they receive it and if they already have the vaccine already why haven’t they started vaccinating people ?

The UK was the first to start an immunization program. Europe only started a few days ago. The USA roll out is slow. Nothing to do with third or first world status. BTW how much money did Zimbabwe put into the vaccine research and development?

This appears to be a massive rant, non of which is verifiable. Perhaps you should use an emojo to indicate it is an attempt at humour. Or write LOL at the end. This TLA also functions as a humour alert. Good luck. See you next year in the vaccine queue, sleeve rolled up, money in hand.

I don't think most people would need an emojo to know it's tongue in cheek. Perhaps I over-estimate their intelligence, or you under-estimate it.

Besides of the US, UK and the EU, Mexico started the vaccination already with the BioNTech/Pfizer vaccine, Costa Rica did, Chile did, Oman did, Saudi Arabia did, Singapore did. Other countries like Argentina use the Russian vaccine already IIRC. India soon will start to vaccinate, as Malaysia will do. This list is not complete, and many third world countries are on the list.

The fact that Thailand will wait till May only, and then start on a very small scale is only caused by Thailand itself, meaning by its inept, corrupt and selfish government, which simply has other priorities than the health of the Thai citizens.

Reportedly not until May or June and even then there will only be enough doses for a small percentage of the population.

Yes, not

Unless you are resident in a country you woll not get it anywhere. Why not return to your roots and wait for it there?

It is not just available ex warehouse by millions of doses. Countries need to wait their turn.

No country has been able to get unlimited supplies. Unless you are resident/citizen you just wait until your turn comes. Why not go to where you are a citizen?

It is only emergency approval in UK. No other country has approved it. Why don't you return home for a shot several months down the mile long queue. Thailand has no obligatikn to give you preference.

Actually the UK has ordered a lot, along with the AZ vaccine they developed they have bought 200 million units of the various vaccines (excluding the slightly dodgy Russian and Chinese ones) for a population of around 70 million. For once forward thinking. Something the Thai Gov forgot, to get the vaccine you actually have to order it and pay !

Yes but there's a big difference between ordering it in and actually getting the supplies. Also, if the UK sticks to its policy of putting off the second dose as long as possible, that will make it impractical for many TVF members to go back and get the jab there (because it means a stay of 3 months or so).

The difference is Thailand have paid for some doses and the rights to manufacture for SE Asia, not AZ's fault if Thailand not ready to do that. Also the Brits paid for the development not Thailand, I reckon that puts them 1st in the queue.

In what sense is Thailand not ready?

And why is there a very large difference in price between countries?
