I saw this thread years ago and it was good reading then, apparently, it went on for some time. Thailand's Expats Urged to Register with TRD for Tax, Says Expert
If you are Canadian and have a Canadian bank account, some banks are now asking their customers to sign a form which includes foreign tax identification numbers (TIN), TD is one such bank. The form also says, that if in the future, you obtain a foreign TIN, the Canadian bank needs to be notified of the foreign TIN, within 30 days. There have been reports that some Canadian banks are closing accounts/freezing accounts that fail to comply. So if you get a Thai tax TIN, even if you don't pay taxes or file a Thai return, you are obligated to notify your Canadian bank and of course that bank will notify Revenue Canada, and it may become the start of a tax nightmare. Little details like this, which are conveniently omitted by the tax expert, can screw you in the future. I highly recommend to avoid obtaining a Thai TIN until it is required by law. -

Lao borders (some at least) now requiring overnight stay?
I have been to chiang khlong border multiple times this year. I was told by the bus ticket person the day after this change, that this was the case. Ready to fight with immigration, i waited on the laos side to be greeted by pleasant smiles and, oh you have wife visa, then no problem...paid my money no documents and got the new mini buses. Went back and got in after 2 hours. Went again, parked up, and went to immigration. This time the officer stated, "when you cum back..?" I said today. He said, "no no no, stay 2 days...." I said, "no, it will be today...." He didnt like that, and i didnt care. Once more i was told by the bus ticket lady.... Went over to the laos side, do you remember me? From a smile to a stamp. Quick beer, to bus. Back at thai side immigration, and let in. From what i understand its for tourists, not for visa holders, at least non o visas. The last time was early octocber. -

Thai woman arrested in Bangkok for pimping out girls aged 14-16
Police arrested a 25 year old Thai woman at a Bangkok hotel for operating a prostitution ring and pimping out three girls aged between 14 and 16. Officers from the Children and Women Protection Sub-division received a tip-off that girls under 18 were being sent to work as party entertainers. In addition to entertaining clients, they were also forced to provide sexual services to interested customers. Undercover officers contacted the procurer, known as “Mo Aom,” via her LINE account “Jt.” They requested three girls and arranged a meeting at a hotel on Soi Somdet Phra Chao Taksin 33 in the Bukkhalo district of Bangkok. The procurer agreed to the booking, charging 1,500 baht per person. At around 11.30pm on Wednesday, November 6, the officers revealed their identities and arrested “Mo Aom,” later identified as 25 year old On-uma. Three young girls, aged 14, 15, and 16, were rescued as victims of the prostitution ring. Each girl stated that they earned 1,000 baht per service, with the remaining 500 baht going to On-uma. The 4,500 baht paid by the officers for the girls served as evidence of the illegal operation. On-uma faces two charges: Section 6 of the Prevention and Suppression of Human Trafficking Act: Seeking benefit from prostitution involving persons over 15 years of age but under 18 years of age. The penalty is six to 15 years’ imprisonment and a fine of 600,000 to 1.5 million baht. Section 277 of the Criminal Law: Sexually assaulting a minor under 13 years old. The penalty is imprisonment from seven to 20 years and a fine of 140,000 to 400,000 baht, or life imprisonment. By Petch Petpailin Photo via Matichon Source: The Thaiger -- 2024-11-08 -

Why Kamala Harris Lost: The Challenges of a Complex Campaign
How exactly did you come up with this conclusion? Or did Joy reed and morning joe feed you this silliness? I came to that conclusion because of what Trump has said he'll do. Of course, he might not actually do all of them—he lies a lot. But if he is able to do most of them, chaos will surely follow—and I don't mean chaos caused by rioting Democrats. I mean economic and general social chaos.
