State of emergency approved until end of Feb

The Committee of the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) on Monday approved extending the state of emergency to the end of February.

 

Approval for a 45-day extension to the emergency decree, instead of the usual month-long extension, comes as Thailand faces a surge in new Covid-19 cases following a fresh outbreak last month.

 

The 45-day extension will be put to the Cabinet on Tuesday.

Safe to assume, until the youth wrestle power away from the dinosaurs, the state of emergency will always remain in place. The power hungry army always seems to be able to find a reason to justify it.

true for Thailand.    also seems to be true for almost every place on Earth at this time.

Seems the only "events"  that are still going on as usual is the continued demand for obedience from

the masters  as  their portfolios reach out of this world proportions.

If only I  knew who Patrick Henry was.

Follow the power and money....

I highly doubt  800 people picking up a virus which 50 will ever know they even had it and only 1 will need to go see a doctor  out of 70,000,000 should not be cause for what is essentially lockdown if it wasn't to fulfill other desires of those in power.

 

 

Don't see the problem and wonder if we get too worked up by the term state of emergency in Thailand's case. 

The measures being implemented are sensible, they've dealt with protests day after day with relatively little heavy handedness. The place is still relaxed compared to most countries.

Put another way, am less bothered about Thailand extending the state of emergency to address Covid compared to governments declaring a climate emergency. The Europeans and including UK say it with a straight face while increasingly burning imported US wood chips to meet their "renewable energy" targets. Now there's an emergency response for you.

Your numbers are wrong.  It's about 20-40% who will be asymptomatic (numbers vary depending on the study you reference).  The rest go from mild to death.  3% sill die, or so.  Some 10-20% will go see the doc and some 10% will end up very sick.  With an unknown number having long lasting effects.

 

It took 10 months to get 3,800 cases and only 13 days to get the next 3,500.  It's different this time around....don't spread misinformation.

AHHHH stop mourning...the whole world is in a state of emergency.

u.k. and germany are in total lockdown.

australia and new zealand are locked for months, nobody can leave them countries.

I am all for democracy in Thailand and am pro the students. 
 

But we are in a pandemic. It is a virus, and this new UK strain is 70% worse than the one we just spent last year fighting. Banning protests at this time is sensible and recommended by medical experts. 
 

Throughout last year the US and UK had BLM protests and riots , anti mask protests, anti lockdown protests, pro Trump rallies, anti Trump rallies, pro Brexit protests, anti Brexit protests, anti statue protests and more.

Idiots, the lot of them, who spread covid to the levels we see today.
 

The Thai student leaders already announced they would stop the protests until this latest outbreak was brought under control, exactly like they did back in March-June of last year. They will wait it out. 
 

If only the “adults” in the West were as sensible as the Thai kids we wouldn’t be where we are at today with 700,000+ new infections everyday. 
 

There is a time and a place for everything. During a pandemic ISNT the time to have large crowds gathering together shouting saliva over each other. That would just be stupid.

No. Your numbers are wrong. Mortality rates are in the range of 0.65%.

Depends on the study.  And since many countries are NOT reporting deaths, or are under reporting, NOBODY knows.

Not to mention they are still buying Thai rice and sugar despite the environmental catastrophe and long term health consequences of field burning. Something that is totally illegal in the west. Nevermind the human rights abuse issue of forcing millions of men, women and children to breath toxic air pollution. ????
