Health provider offering to pay for Covid-19 vaccine

Recently I received an email from my health provider (PassportCard, formerly David Shield) offering to pay for me to get the Covid-19 vaccine.

The offer was subject to the government here not offering to pay for me.

Has anyone else had the same offer, just finding this to be odd, although I can see it being a cost saving measure, risk vs benefits to them if I ended up getting Covid-19 and being hospitalised.

We are happy to inform you that if the full expenses of vaccinations are not covered by your country of residence, we at PassportCard will bear the costs. Coverage is subject to the terms and conditions of your policy and the customary rates in your country of residence.

Yes I have had the same. I have not yet checked with my broker but the phrase

makes me wonder if it is only covered if you have out patient as well as in patient cover as presumably you don't need to be in a hospital bed to be vaccinated......

Aetna offered free flu vaccination last year. So why not offer a free Covid vaccination this year.

They probably will do so once they calculated they can make an all-in profit on it.

Yes, this was from my US-based health insurance:

"While it's not yet certain when all vaccinations will begin and how they will be handled in different states, rest assured that there will be no cost to Aetna® members to receive the COVID-19 vaccination."

My Blue Cross Blue Shield from the US is paying for the vaccine.  It also pays for testing without a copay.
