They police and army are not expected to be honest, and they are not expected to engage in law enforcement, traffic or public safety, on any level.

I have told you a million times before not to exaggerate.

Go and rob a gold shop or bank tomorrow and see how they don’t engage in law enforcement. The jails are crowded, people didn’t just turn up, they were arrested first.

Thailand is generally fairly safe. They have a uniquely Thai style, but it is quite effective.

Where did your sister in law find her Brit boyfriend?

The alleged incident reportedly took place at around 1.50am-2.30am on January 13, when the suspect took a 21-year-old female Myanmar national, who had been detained at Bo Phut Police Station on a drug charge, out of her holding cell to another room. After allegedly being raped, she was taken back to the cell.

This case would never have seen the light of day if the girl had not informed her Embassy.

Smart girl, I hope she gets justice.

The embassy was informed but not by her, On the TV news it says she had a visit from a relative in the morning she told them and they informed the embassy

Thanks for the advice, pops. What I meant to say, was law enforcement here is very selective, and it rarely applies to the rich, powerful or those in office, or those who are connected. Alot of people in jail are without means. They could not buy their way out of a prison sentence. How many ex-senators, ex PM's, ex police chiefs, or wealthy people are in Thai jails?

She met him on Samui, which used to be a favorite spot for dodgy ex-pats, and those hiding from the law. She has never had much discrimination when it comes to finding good men. I think she finally settled down with a very decent Thai man who is hard working, responsible and a good guy.

We know he did not bring her into that private room for a friendly chat. Did they do a rape test at the hospital? And if they did, and it was positive, why has this heinous cop not been arrested yet? Suspended? Will he be charged? And if he is charged with rape, will it ever go to trail? And if it goes to trial, what are the chances of a conviction? And if he gets convicted, what are the chances the judge will not commute, or suspend the sentence? The chances of this officer, or nearly any police officer spending time in prison, for ANY crime, is so minuscule, it boggles the mind.

I did a search, and could not find a single instance or a policeman going to prison for a crime here. Yet, the protestors continue to get arrested for simply questioning an incompetent and regressive administration. 80% of all Thai prisoners are in jail on drug charges. An effective system? You be the judge.

I don’t know where you search? I think you might have made it up again.

google “Thai policeman jailed”

page after page comes up, for bribery, murder etc etc.

here is a few. If you search in Thai language you will find plenty more but I doubt you can read Thai or ever read Thai news, because if you did, you would know. It is fairly common. The press love reporting it.

Hundreds more. You can have an opinion, but don’t claim things that obviously are not true.

Incident? Since when is rape an incident?

In police terminology just about every crime is called an 'incident'.

Little of this counts. The system has a habit of sentencing only retired, or officers who committed a crime while a different administration was in power. Ever notice that? Show me some examples of cases that were about crimes committed within the past 6 years.

And we can keep this civil. The diatribe about "I doubt you can read Thai, or ever read Thai news" is juvenile, and rather silly. Are you in high school?

So it has gone from “never”, I present you with tens of cases. And you say it now doesn’t count.

You can have an opinion, but you were factually wrong.

I haven’t finished high school yet.

My point being, you claim to have lived here for many years. You claimed police are never jailed, which indicates to me you never watch the news, or never understand it.

If you spoke Thai you would know about it. You don’t, so you just made it up and presented it as fact.
Cops get jailed all the time. Your statement that I quoted you on was factually incorrect.

Never let the truth get in the way of a good story.
