Korat villagers convinced that Ganesha pig will bring lottery riches!

Villagers in Nakhon Ratchasima in Thailand's north east are convinced that lottery riches are just around the corner after a pig was born that resembled the deity Ganesha.

Known as "Phra Phikhanet" in Thai, the elephant god is believed to be a "remover of obstacles" and a deva of "intellect and wisdom" according to wikipedia. He is revered in Thailand and all over Asia.

The piglet  was the fourth in a litter born to its mother owned by Tengkuay, aged 75, in Ban Sala, Phimai district.

He had big ears and a nose like a trunk - the spitting image of Ganesha.

After his birth Tengkuay feared the mother would step on him and kill him so she removed him to the house. Unfortunately he only lasted 30 minutes before dying.

She then placed him on a special holy shelf and since then the neighbors from all around have been visiting to pay their respects and work out the lottery numbers.

Many people sure are funny and it makes little difference what country they are from. Some Thais might believe in an elephant God and many Americans that I grew up with believe in a Holy Spirit. Personally, I believe in using common sense...

.............before placing him in the holy sausage

That is just a very gross deformed piglet. What are the farmers shooting their sows up with? Everyone knows to get lottery numbers go to a monitor lizard!
