Chonburi masseuses back in business as outbreak eases

Chonburi’s massage parlours and beauty businesses were allowed to reopen from Wednesday after the Covid-19 outbreak eased.

The move came after massage therapists protested at Chonburi’s city hall on Monday, calling on authorities to lift the longstanding closure order on their workplaces.

Chonburi authorities proposed the issue to the government, and on Wednesday cancelled the order covering massage parlours and spas.

Also permitted to reopen from Wednesday are hair salons, beauty clinics, and tattoo/piercing shops.

They probably get 30 or 40b of that.  Better then nothing at least enough for a bowl of noodles.

So what about BARS and alcohol in restaurants, many many staff and businesses are strugling because they have to stay closed.

The conservatives old elites runing the country have decided to get rid of the

Thailand's sulphurous reputation as the sex tourism world destination

so the beers bars, gogos and others venues in the same area will be always

the first to be closed and the last to reopen, untill there is no one left

(Or at least no one in a visible perimeter)

I've often heard most massuses only work for tips and the hourly fee goes to the owner for rent, aircon, and profit.

I was told for a 200 baht hourly it was split down the middle. One girl even moved because the place was charging more and felt her opportunity to earn was much reduced. Not much to share around at 80 baht, but it is mostly foot and neck+shoulders at the reduced price. Doesn't seem like there is much money in it for owners.

The price goes up the higher up the massage goes .
