Test for kidneys ?
Yes, he needs to consult a good nephrologist. Where in Thailand is he? Kidney transplants here cost about 1.5 million baht and he would have to have a tissue-matched family member or spouse willing to donate (Thai law limits living donors to relatives and spouses) as he chances of getting a kidney from a cadaver are extremely low. However unless he is in end stage renal failure (in which case he would already be requiring dialysis to live), it is premature to think about transplants. "Bad news" to a patient could mean many things, even early stage kidney problems. -

Driver Dies in Multi-Car Collision in Nonthaburi Parking Lot
Picture from responders. An incident occurred in Nonthaburi on 10 January, when a car reversed out of control, damaging six vehicles and resulting in the tragic death of the driver. Emergency responders from the Chonprathan Hospital and the Poh Teck Tung Foundation rushed to the scene at a residential parking lot on Tiwanon Road, Pak Kret, after reports of a collision involving multiple vehicles. Upon arrival, they discovered 53-year-old Phuliphat, a resident of Nakhon Si Thammarat, lying unconscious beside his green Jeep Cherokee (Bangkok registration). The vehicle’s gear was still in reverse. Despite valiant efforts by medics to resuscitate Phuliphat, including CPR, he was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. Six vehicles, including cars and pickup trucks, were damaged in the incident. CCTV footage revealed the sequence of events. Phuliphat had started his car and attempted to reverse while leaving the driver’s door open. The vehicle accelerated backward uncontrollably, colliding with parked cars. During the commotion, Phuliphat was thrown from the vehicle and smashing his head into the floor, sustaining fatal injuries. His wife later disclosed that Phuliphat suffered from epilepsy, high blood pressure, and had previously undergone heart bypass surgery. She speculated that his medical conditions might have contributed to the incident. Witnesses reported that the car appeared to lurch backward rapidly, potentially due to a stuck gear or accelerator. Authorities have yet to confirm whether the collision was caused by mechanical failure or a medical episode. Investigations are ongoing to determine the precise cause. -- 2025-01-12 -

Volvo Crashes into Utility Pole and Bursts into Flames, Killing Driver in Chiang Mai
Picture from responders. An incident occurred on the Chiang Mai-Lampang Superhighway when a green Volvo car collided with a utility pole and was engulfed in flames, killing the driver inside. Authorities are working to confirm the victim’s identity, with evidence suggesting the deceased may have been a lawyer. The incident occurred on the evening of January 10, near the Pa Bong police checkpoint on the Chiang Mai-Lampang Superhighway. Highway police, firefighters, and rescue personnel rushed to the scene following reports of the crash. By the time emergency crews arrived, the vehicle was entirely consumed by flames, with the driver trapped inside. It took over 30 minutes for firefighters to extinguish the blaze. Upon inspection of the burnt-out vehicle, identified as a Volvo car, registered in Bangkok, officials discovered documents in the trunk indicating the owner was a lawyer. A charred driver’s license and lawyer’s certificate were recovered, bearing the name Mr. Phumin. The remains of the victim, burned beyond recognition, were sent to Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital’s forensic department for further examination and for family members to confirm the deceased’s identity. Police are investigating the cause of the accident, including whether the car’s use of LPG as fuel may have contributed to the fire. The Chiang Mai forensics team is expected to conduct a thorough investigation to determine the precise circumstances leading to the crash. -- 2025-01-12
