Former celebrity boxer and net idol Apirak “Sia Po” Chatanon, 28, was arrested on Thursday morning over allegations of money laundering and running the online casino, “Galaxy Online”.

Police also raided his house in Bangkok’s Phasi Charoen district along with seven other sites in the capital as well as neighbouring provinces of Nonthaburi and Nakhon Pathom.

Along with Apirak, police arrested 11 other suspects, two of whom were charged with possessing illegal weapons and consuming controlled substances.

Police said six other gambling websites were found related to Apirak’s network, adding that the link will be investigated further.

Several bank accounts involving transactions worth more than Bt1 billion were also found linked to the suspects.

Did they arrest the cops that were involved? Are they going to charge the banks that ignored the money laundering?

If they every expect to change things they need to take down the trees and the roots, not a couple of damaged limbs.

They will never eradicate gambling as it's an addiction for most Thai's. With just one operation turning over in excess of 1 billion baht it's time they legalised and taxed it. They could do same with prostitution (if that existed).

Better return than boxing until you get caught.

Isn't this the guy who was asked to sit on a government committee to help them to stamp out gambling?

But, I was just preparing for my new job.  I needed to set up the sites so you could see where we will need to attack the gamblers...
