The governor of Phetchaburi province expressed his confidence that there would be no more Covid-19 infections on his patch.

Phakkhapong Thawiphat was speaking to Talk News Online after a meeting with health department staff and Covid specialists.

He said there were no new cases to report.

Proavtive testing of 13,216 people in the second wave of the pandemic had resulted in 13,178 negative results.

Thirty two people tested positive in the province and 31 of these have recovered with one still undergoing treatment.

Six cases were still waiting for test results.

He called on all authorities to ensure strict adherence to the Covid-19 rules and protocols and urged people to protect themselves, get used to life under the New Normal and not to let down their guard.

Zero infection in the province - that includes the popular tourist town of Cha-Am - was the goal.
