Former MP's son connected to drugs and money laundering via online gambling Image: Sanook Thailand's drugs' suppression division and a special task force armed with warrants raided a house of the son of a former MP in Muang district of Songkhla, southern Thailand yesterday. Pitiphon was not home but his mother, sister and a person looking after the property were there. Twenty million baht was found in a safe. A door to an adjoinging property was locked and it was claimed they didn't have the key. Investigators scaled a wall and after breaking in on the second floor found an office thought to be used in an online betting operation. Sanook maid this had a turnover of a BILLION baht. RTP chief Gen Suwat Yodchaengsuk said there was clear evidence that the suspect was connected to the drug gang of Pongthep also known as "Neung Freedom". The gambling operation has been used to launder money from the sale of drugs. Bank accounts have been opened that show the payments to people who have moved drugs. Sanook did not report the name of the MP, the surname of the suspect or the political party of his father just saying that it is a famous party.
