But the reason behind his departure worries me.  All you have to do if you don't like what a commentator says about you or your company is to sue his network for $$ billions, and poof.  He goes away.

That's a scary precedent for journalism and the 4th Estate.  Even if you don't agree with the guy.

Prove inconclusively what you say is true, done deal!

Nope. They do NOT legally fabricate. Each news outlet has their own read on an issue, but when you fabricate, you get your network sued and you get kicked to the curb. Fox has a slew of those.

They do it all the the time. For example, https://www.discovermagazine.com/technology/the-quantum-internet-will-blow-your-mind-heres-what-it-will-look-like?utm_source=dscfb&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=dscfb. It just ain't right. This is what is called 'Quantum hype'. Yes, there are things that might/could/do travel faster than light, but information isn't one of them. It just journalistic fabrication...don't see anyone rushing to the courts, though.

IMO, Lou Dobbs was always a boring and lame commentator who was just confirming the confirmation bias of his audience

This article has nothing to do with holding journalists accountable for lying to their viewers. Not even close. It's mildly interesting fiction.

The most secure election in history.  Yeah, right.   Exactly what changed since 2018/2019?

Valid question. The answer, apparently is that there were no valid legal grounds to file a law suit. And therein is the difference.

That is not journalism.

If that is the case why is Rachel Madcow still around after the RUSSIANS ARE COMING THE RUSSIANS ARE COMEING COVERAGE.

Then of course there is the Clinton/Cuomo News Network

Journalism died long ago.  I remember when Ted Turner actually owned and ran CNN it was as good network with good coverage.

There is one other thing tht people tend to forget guys like Larry King ( RIP) Bill O'Reilly and Dobbs have been in the business and popular for so long that their contracts become almost too expensive.  Therefore if the companies get a chance to dump them they take it.

Also Fox needs to change things up a bit or they risk becoming the bitter GOP network or TRUMP NEWS.

Fox never stated the reason. If the reason was because of the suit then why are the others named in the suit still having their shows.

Reputable media check their sources before inflammatory comment. Due diligence. If they get it wrong they rectify it, on air, quickly.

As for Maddow, well a bipartisan committee led by republicans found russia did interfere. Putin even admitted it with a straight out ‘yes’ when asked.

But fox commentators dont. The courts ruled against the complaints 60 times, yet they continued. They only stopped when the suit was filed.

Dobbs only had an audience of 300k and wasnt pulling in the advertisers. Plus he was a pain for the managers. Add to that the suit and he is gone.

Fox paid out tens of millions for the behaviour of o’reilly. He was as bad as ailes.

OMG! I wasn't aware of this straw clutch. Thanks for mentioning it.

"... The subpoenas issued by Fann and Sen. Warren Petersen, who chairs the Senate Judiciary Committee, demand that Maricopa County turn over ballot tabulation machines, 2.1 million ballots and other materials and data from the 2020 general election. Despite a lack of any evidence that the outcome of any races were affected by fraud or misconduct, they want to conduct a forensic audit of those materials. ..."

It's rather refreshing to see that the judicial system might actually hold people account financially for the lies and conspiracy theories, that actually hurt real companies, real people.

The fact that these companies actually have to hire security to protect their employees from nutjobs egged on by these wacko's need to have some consequences.

Maybe the litigious nature of the US might actually be worthwhile!

The thing is that while people bemoan and cry about tucker Carlson and Fox News there are a couple of truths that they miss. Hannity, Carlson and Foxnews have been to top rated primetime cable for a long time.  Even when Obama term 1 and 2.  It will be interesting to see what happens for obama term 3

Lou Dobbs goes on a Twitter rampage after being booted from Fox Business

Facing one of the largest libel cases in U.S history, Fox News abruptly canceled "Lou Dobbs Tonight," prompting the Trump-loving host to go on a Twitter tirade, tearing apart his former employer while refusing to back down from the baseless claims of election fraud that got him in such trouble in the first place.

As for Dobbs' sudden departure, the network suggested it is unrelated to the lawsuits it's facing. "As we said in October, FOX News Media regularly considers programming changes and plans have been in place to launch new formats as appropriate post-election, including on FOX Business – this is part of those planned changes."
